Not in a good space

It's like a feeling just bubbling up to the surface. It's panicky and disgusting and I dont' know what to do with it. There's no thoughts associated with it. It's a feeling. A really gross one. I called the Suicide Call Back service. I didn't find them helpful. What do you do? What helps you?

Morning Katyonthehamsterwheel,

I really hope you are ok! Can you elaborate a bit more? What is it that you want help with? From your post you sound lonely and stuck. Like you are unsure. Trust yourself! U can go anywhere and do anything you want to really.

In your posts you have had some really good days and you have reason to flourish in this life. Perhaps you're tired of not having more to do?

Or everything is stressful and overwhelming?

I've personally had some " unsure" days where I just stay at home. Meds make me flat so there's a part of me that cares and a part that doesn't. I know I should be doing more with my time but sometimes I just don't feel up to it or stay home bcas of covid bcas not everything is fully open.

It can be difficult knowing what to do everyday...I live my life in silence a lot. I'm getting used to being careless and stuck in a rut.

I honestly think life's better when I get out more but it doesn't always happen.

You can get away from yourself by doing things. By focusing on others or the environment around you. Finality is certain but by your own hand causes so much pain to others.

I'm assuming you've been feeling pretty bad lately. Hang in there. Hoping you have a better day today. We are here.

💜

Thankyou all. I ended up talking to Lifeline last night.

I started prac on Monday and I'm just not managing. My thoughts and feelings are just dictating and I want to run away. All I do is feel stupid and cry at the drop of a hat. I left at lunch time today and I don't want to go back. It's great that I got this far in my degree, but that was by studying from home, in the safety of my own space and company. Now I need to be around people all day, doing things I'm not comfortable doing, and I don't know how to do that. I wish I was "normal". Like my ex used to say to me "why can't you just be normal?". I don't know how. I wish I did. I wish I found things easy and I wish I didn't hate myself because I don't find them easy.

I feel so alone

Hi Katy,

First of all, forget anything your ex said about you - he is not someone whose opinion you should be listening to!!!

You don't say what your prac is? It just sounds as if your lack of self confidence/social anxiety is getting the better of you. Some self-talk might help - remember you are a high passing student, you're intelligent, and you can manage the prac fine. I don't think people who lack self confidence are good judges of yourself. I thought I was a rotten nurse until I discovered that the Sisters were giving me excellent reports - so I wasn't judging myself very accurately was I, because I didn't have confidence in myself.

Might be time to pull yourself up, tell yourself you can do this, and force yourself to go back and finish it, because if you don't you will always regret it. Push yourself and tell yourself that you can and will manage this.

I am facing going blind - and I am telling myself that I will manage this somehow. I have terribly wobbly days, and then I just have to keep going no matter what. You do the same.

When I was learning horse riding, when you had a fall they made you get back on the horse so you didn't lose your nerve. It worked.

Now go back to your prac tomorrow and you will manage it girl! OK?!!!

Have some faith in yourself Katy - we do. You can do this. It doesn't matter if you're anxious/tremble/stammer whatever - all you have to do is scrape through! You don't have to be brilliant - just get through it. It won't last that long and the end of your degree is in sight. You go girl.

Hello Katy,

Lass you are so very "normal" !! You have mental health issues, that is no different to having heart health issues or mobility health issues. It's a medical condition not a failing.

I'm wondering if perhaps a variant of something my psych suggested might help you. Each day go in with the aim of only having to be there for an hour. When that hour is up reward yourself & aim to stay another hour. Repeat. That way you're breaking the day up into managable chunks, it's hard to stay if we're thinking "omg it's still 5 more hours", whereas one hour at a time is doable (or half hour whatever works). Give yourself a reward at the end of each day, something you really love like taking Storm for a walk. At the start of each day remind yourself you managed the day before & can do it again. Take a walk at lunch time. Plan a big reward for when it's over, so if you find yourself struggling during the day you can think of something you have to look forward to.

You are nearly there lass, just a few more weeks & you will be done. You have put so much effort into getting this far, you can do this last bit I do believe in you even if you are struggling to do so.

Your friends on bb are here for you.

Huggliest of hugs
