Hi everyone, mb20lover here. I wasn't sure where to post this.

It's been a while since I was on the forums, so I just wanted to make a post saying that I'm back. However, I'll try my best to limit my time, comments, etc on here.

I won't bother tagging anyone, and I'll try to keep this as my only open thread that I have created.

I've missed everyone I've spoken to on here, and I hope to talk to some new people. I have been using my offline supports - my Psychiatrist, GP, Parent support of course, and a Social Worker. I'm in the process of finding a Psychologist but I'm having no luck.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, and also I hope I haven't upset anyone on the forums or anything like that because nothing was intentional, so I deeply apologise.

An update on me, I recently turned 21, can't do much with COVID though, it's a hard year for everyone unfortunately.

I also have a milestone, an achievement, I've been seeing my Psychiatrist for a year which is the longest I've stayed with a therapist. And I also finally have a GP I feel comfortable with. I'm on different meds that seem to be working a little but I still of course have my moments, but these meds I've been on the longest for out of any of the ones I've tried.

Other than that, please don't feel pressured to comment anyone, although it would be nice to connect with some people, old or new, but like I said that's okay. I just wanted to check in.

If you've read this and made it this far, thank you. Stay safe and take care everyone, as much as possible with the unfortunate COVID circumstances.

Thinking of all the Beyond Blue Mods & Users. I've missed everyone.

Hey J. Was waiting for Lifeline on the webchat since 9:55pm, never got through. What a joke.

Well yeah I would like to cook, I don't know what though really. Thanks for understanding.

Hi Tayla,

Yeah wow, thats a long time to wait.

What do you like to eat? ( pick something easy!)

J*

hey there tayla,

what a disappointment re the webchats - how annoying. I don't use the webchats at all as I prefer talking on the phone but that is just terrible service. I guess u tried, but I know u want more than to sit there waiting and fair enough, too. That is shocking also that the Triage don't let u call. I've called the triage before and spoke to them on the phone. I'm quite looking forward to going to the hospital tbh.

the stereotype that mental hopsitals lock ppl up is not true for a lot of ppl -

also ppl are scared to call lifeline, because they think they'll be locked up or something... i've stayed in refuses, respite and hospital and there's painting classes, movie nights and it's relaxing and okay. So i'm passionate about breaking the stereotypes because ppl would not reach out for help if they believed it could lead to being locked up.
When i was in hospital one of my friends was shocked and horrified that they let ppl leave for walks or to even go home for a bit. I got a bit upset. We could all leave if we wanted.
The worker at the hospital said i should tell my friend - when u go on a yoga retreat, do they let you leave?

Anyway... it's an interesting stereotype that for me hasn't been true.

J - Nachos are one of my favourite meals, I like it with shredded beef but I prefer it with mince actually. I love Sour Cream but don't have the Jalepenos or Lettuce or any of that. How about you?

Sleepy - I agree, I haven't used webchats in months. I've found some to be helpful and some have made me feel even worse than when I came on. It's a hit and miss for everyone I guess. At least triage is helpful for you.

That actually sounds cool and therapeutic, I wish I could go to something like that. They won't even let me go in for an assesment to see if there's anything else they or someone else can do. I'm glad it's helped you and others. I know it's a stereotype, I wish it wasn't.

Hey T,

Nachos would be a fantastic meal to start with, at home. So simple, and you can do a big batch of meat with your mum, and then freeze portions. Then you could make nachos when you're home alone! So awesome!

I love it when the cheese melts on the plain chips, and the oven makes the tips go a bit black....

I love thai food. I made a kit pad thai tonite for an easy Sat nite dinner. I could eat asian every nite. But everyone in my family has different food they like. My H loves meat and 3 veg. My daughter likes pizza, of course, salad, anything raw, and noodles, pasta. Even tinned spaghetti lol.

Cheers, J*

Hi Sleepy,

I love how you're breaking down the stereotypes. So important. And THE most important thing to happen in the last decade, talking about mental health issues.

Good on you!

Cheers,

J*

Hmm good idea about freezing portions, didn't think of that.

I don't like thai/asian or indian food (no disrespect to the food and culture though). I love roasts too, sometimes pizza. Tinned spaghetti is nice too, I usually eat that when I'm sick

Hi T,

I'm sure no offence will be taken lol 🙂

Freezing bits of food is such a good thing. I often freeze a chop, or pieces of bacon. Spaghetti bolognese. I have a small square casserole dish which is the right size for lasagne for one. So often spag bol becomes an easy lasagne, in different sized portions in the freezer. Super easy and yum with a green salad.

Roasts are a good basic. Real crowd pleaser too.

I have a lovely old Womens Weekly cookbook which does lots of basic info and recipes. I grew up with one in my childhood home, so when I saw it in the op shop I snapped it up.

Do you have any decent op shops where you live?

Cheers,

J*

hey tay - that's terrible that they wouldn't let you in for an assessment

what a joke

VMIAC is an amazing victorian organisation that can give you an advocate for free to help with any issues with the mental health system - all their volunteers/people who work there have lived experience with mental health and can argue for and with u to get help.

Yes the refuges/services provided for menal health can be quite therapeutic. I believe there are some spaces like that which are only for ppl 18-25. I asked my friend who went to one of those if she thought it was better to have special spaces for ppl under 25.. she said she realy liked it but found it hard to adjust after she turned 26 and was no longer with only younger ppl. I'd have liked something like that too I think when I was your age. Just to meet other young ppl who were in the same boat. Maybe your psychiatrist or psychologist knows of some options for young ppl.

Hey J and Sleepy, sorry I fell asleep eventually.

J - good idea, that sounds nice. I think we have Women's Weekly Cookbooks too. Yeah we have some op shops.

Sleepy - yep I agree, what a joke. I haven't heard of VMIAC actually so thank you. I know Wellways do it but they wouldn't help me either, all they did was got me a form which I could've got myself from the hospital in my town to complain about the MH Nurse I saw, like ?.
