Hi All,
My name is Lici and I'm currently studying psychology and creative writing at uni.
I stumbled across this forum after being diagnosed with GAD and was looking for help due to some confusion. I have struggled with depression since childhood as well as PTSD after a traumatic event in my 20s.
I hope to be able to contribute to this forum and help people as much as I can in the future, it seems like a really great place!
Anyway, that's about it really, I just thought I'd introduce myself with a bit of background. Feel free to say hi when you see me about the forums or to ask any questions. I'm always willing to share my experiences in the hopes of helping.
Thanks for reading 🙂

Hello Lici and CoffeeSnob,
Welcome to the forums! I see you both have already made some posts. I'll keep an eye out.
I hope you guys can find what you need here. There are so many people with many different experiences yet all sharing a common understanding of what it's like to have mental health issues, so it's great to have you two here too.

Hi Lici,
I remember your name from another thread and wanted to say hello 🙂
Here is another cheerful welcome to you.
You have certainly struggled for some time. Things must have been (be) hard for a while. It’s lovely to have you here.
Looking forward to hopefully seeing you around the forums.

Hi CoffeeSnob, welcome to the forum too 🙂 you sound like a person after my own heart... coffee is my life! I swear I wouldn't be able to get through uni without it!
Hi James! A lot of my posts are in the anxiety section. I think this forum is really great. I wish it was around when I was a teenager! It would have made a huge difference! I'm really glad it exists for people now. Mental illness can be so isolating, having somewhere like this to be able to speak to people who know what it's like is so hugely important.
Hi Pepper! Your thread has me started now haha I could talk about the benefits of photography all day! I've been through many tough times throughout life but I'm kind of grateful for them now, it's going to help me be a better psychologist (when I finally finish studies!)
Hi Grady! Thanks for the welcome! I'm sure that I'll find all the guidance etc I need here, this place has so much to offer! I hope that I can offer as much as I get from it!
Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone, I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Hi Lici,
Welcome to the forums. I’ve already seen you in the Facebook thread, offering some useful advice - I have already taken some of your suggestions on board and I now feel much better equipped to navigate my Facebook feed - on my terms. Thanks!
Hope to see you around!

Hi Tams!
I'm so glad that my Facebook advice has helped! It really does change things once you start taking control on there. I remember the first time I deleted some of the negative people I had on my friendslist. I was so nervous and anxious about what they would think and if they'd message me etc. But the ones that did I just blocked and *poof* negativity gone.
They also have a snooze feature now so anyone that I'm not sure I want to delete (such as family friends that I'll see in real life), but who constantly post negative things that bring me down, I'll snooze for 30 days. The best thing is the person you're snoozing doesn't get notified (the same when you're deleting or unfollowing someone). It really changes facebook when you take control of it. 🙂
I really am so glad to read that something I've written has helped someone! Feel free to comment in any of my threads if you ever want to chat 🙂
Kind regards,
Lici

Hi Lici,
Yep - friends culled, notifications turned off, pages unliked, annoying friends ‘snoozed’ - it’s all on my terms now! I’ve been on a few times since cleaning it up and it’s all good so far.
Thanks for your help! I hope to be able to return the favour at some point in the future 😊

Hi Lici,
It’s wonderful to hear from you again 🙂
I think you will make a compassionate and insightful psychologist. What a beautiful goal to aspire to...
Feel free to talk about photography any time. Your whole tone becomes lighter and more cheerful when you talk about it.
