Hi All,
My name is Lici and I'm currently studying psychology and creative writing at uni.
I stumbled across this forum after being diagnosed with GAD and was looking for help due to some confusion. I have struggled with depression since childhood as well as PTSD after a traumatic event in my 20s.
I hope to be able to contribute to this forum and help people as much as I can in the future, it seems like a really great place!
Anyway, that's about it really, I just thought I'd introduce myself with a bit of background. Feel free to say hi when you see me about the forums or to ask any questions. I'm always willing to share my experiences in the hopes of helping.
Thanks for reading 🙂
Lici

Oh! Thanks for telling me about that thread startingnew! That's going to help so much over exam period. My current strategies really aren't working so having somewhere to get some decent tips from I can't even begin to describe how helpful that will be!
Thanks for the compliment, there are days when I don't feel that way at all!

Hey Lici,
Welcome. We have crossed paths on HeyJudes thread.
Advice for assignments ... This is something I got from another student. She was told this by a lecturer...
Aim for a credit. Don't pressure yourself to get a D or HD.
The idea is that the less pressure you put on yourself, you can actually get better marks and be happy with what results you do get.

Hi smallwolf!
Thanks for the tip! A credit is usually what I aim for but unfortunately with psychology I have to have 75% credits and 25% distinctions to get into honours. I hear a lot of students say "p's get degrees" but not for psychology lol. To become a registered psychologist I need to do my bachelors (in my last year atm) then honours, then either 2 years supervised practice, master's or a PHD. Honours and the rest are all highly competitive and only have limited places so you need to have a high gpa to be accepted. I'm currently thinking I'll do a phd after honours because less people apply for them (master's had 265 or something applicants for 8 positions).
I've been managing the pressure so far by just trying not to think about it. So far I'm sitting on a gpa of 5.5 and this year for honours people needed a gpa of 5.25 so hopefully I can keep it up this year! I find that logically I know that I won't get below a credit, I haven't so far and my work is consistent. My anxiety however likes to say things like "What if you only get a pass? What then? What's your plan B?" It's that part that keeps me in constant doubt. That and the procrastination that I can't seem to get a handle on!
Anyway, thanks for coming in to my thread to say hi and for the tip, I really appreciate it! I'll definitely try to remind myself to take the pressure off with my upcoming assignments!
Kind regards,
Lici
