We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hey everyone, lots of challenging happenings in our family are the reasons I've been MIA.
It's wonderful to see everyone's self-care going on!
My self-care recently...
~ sleeping when I need to if I can
~ eating good food
~ bringing expectations of myself way down so I can cope with what's going on.
I've had to make a lot of decisions quickly and found some triggers occurring.
I was able to recognise these and use some fun things to distract me, so I could complete the necessary tasks at hand.

Sat by the fire and just listened to the wind, letting my thoughts drift from all the hassles of the day
Watched Sum Cat (who is mature and very dignified) jump and bound like a kitten playing with a piece of bark (he always feels like play when it's windy)
Felt blessed Mrs C brought in wood - to be looked after is wonderful

My three self-care things:
1) Slept in! (always a great self-care tool for me) The less sleep I get, the more irritable I get!
2) Went to the gym! I am proud of myself!
3) Watching Korean dramas today makes me feel relaxed!

Nice ones Self-carers!
I'm doing the following for self-care:
~ sleeping when I can.
~ taking moments to breathe and appreciate my surroundings
~ keeping up with my regular Counselling sessions which are really helpful
~ eating well.
Back to bed!

Hello Everyone,
It is comforting and encouraging to read people's comments here.
Today I have been for a short walk as per my physio instructions, I went out early and watched the sun rise.
I'm planning on doing some arts and crafts today and if I have time later, a bit of housework...pleasure first for a change!
I will make some soup later

Stretches and exercises to help my aching body
Watched the sunrise for a while
Visited a family member and was open to their suggestions of how we spent the day, being flexible and appreciative of all we did.

Today, for my first day back at work after being sick with flu, I was kind to myself by:
Dressing extra warmly, with lots of layers to be able to adapt to the day. Scarf, beanie, jacket, wool cardi, tee 🙂
Asking for an extra 15 mins of lunch break, so I could properly relax and eat my lunch.
Cooking a lovely baked chicken dinner, with fresh local baby carrots and spinach. Note to self-baked dinner is so good after working becos it cooks while I'm sitting down!
Cheers all,
J*
