We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes

Today was a tough day. Depression continues to rear its head. I woke up this morning & realised I had no reason to get out of bed. But I’m so proud of myself for what I managed to achieve

1 - got up & showered & cleaned my teeth (that’s a step better than yesterday)

2 - saw a Facebook post for a local business that was struggling with lockdown cancellations. I purchased a box of cupcakes off them. I didn’t need them, but it made me feel good to help someone edit.

3 - gifted the cupcakes to my neighbours. They have 2 kids stuck at home & the smiles on their faces made me feel so warm & fuzzy inside. I’m still riding the wave of happiness of doing nice things for others

So it was more a day of mental health self care, or whatever you might call it. But it feels good to feel good about yourself.

The big blue thanks fir sharing your self care day which helped others too. Liked the gesture of the cupcakes.

yesterday I

sorted children’s books out to give away to family member

made some easy muffins out of left over dried fruit

made some chicken patties out of left over chicken and veggies

I am not much of a cook so I was pleased I made an effort and no food was wasted.

Hey BB Self-carers! Everyone's doing so well.

TBB, looking after ourselves in ANY manner is self-care.
We're writing the script after all lol.

Nice ones everyone. Pretty impressed by your savvy cooking skills Quirky, GO YOU!

Today I

~ am about to have a phone Counselling session, I do these via phone anyway since last year, so the Lock Down is just whatever it is for us...

~ am slow cooking a yummy soup with barley yum!

~ will have a Chiro appt later on today.

Love EMxxxx

TheBigBlue - I am so proud of you, truly. I think that is such a wonderful thing that you did for both the business and your neighbour 🙂 That was awesome to read.

Quirkywords - I think that is so awesome that you were able to use ingredients you already have to cook! It really sounds like you are a good cook!

Ecomama- proud of you for looking after your mental health with the phone counselling session. That soup sounds very yummy! Perfect for the winter weather

Hi everyone! Because I am now on uni holidays and in Sydney with the lockdown I have to admit that my motivation has been a bit low. I am reminding myself of the things that give me little boosts of serotonin!

1) I will cook dinner for my family tonight! I am really focusing on learning recipes that are both healthy but most importantly - delicious! I found a recipe for a cauliflower parmi so I am curious how that will turn out

2) I will play Luigi's Mansion 3. My partner knows how much I love Switch games so he surprised me with one the other day. That made me so happy and perfect for now while I have a lot of down time

3) I am de-cluttering my room as a form of self-care. It really feels good! It's getting more and more streamlined but still with objects that show my personality!

Keep up the awesome work everyone!

Hey everyone,

love those self care items misstep- it feels so good to streamline rooms hey, esp bedrooms I think. Mine is calling out for a bit more love actually after a new quilt and cover- it’s wool and so toasty and warm! The dark charcoal tho doesn’t really vibe as well in my vintagey blue space, so I need to work on that!

self care today- had a nap on the warm sunny couch after work- until the sun went down that is! Brrrr!

Took the dog for a walk. That was really hard cos it was getting cold and the couch looked cosier, but I felt nice and warm once I got back, so it was worth it.

Made salad and chicken breast for dinner, with potato wedges. I’ve discovered KEWPIE roasted sesame dressing and I can’t get enough of it on my salad! So yummy!

Hello All

Loving this thread.

Adding my penny:

A very hot cup of good quality cocoa to accompany a slice of warmed bread with cottage cheese and raw honey.

A walk on the beach and rest for some time (without checking the time).

Cuddles with my loved ones.

Take care Everyone.

I watched a program I am enjoying and hadn’t seen for years.

I challenged myself to do something I was not confident in doing

i had a rest for a few minutes before tea and did not apologise.

Thanks everyone for sharing, there are some wonderful ideas here.

Today I have been for a walk early, I stopped to listened to the birds for a while and was thrilled to hear a kookaburra

I'm making soup for lunch

Later on I am going to have some time out in the sun reading a book
