We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

well done Golden
U got this 🙂
a lot of ppl misrepresent themselves as trauma experts, that has happened to me too. I read somewhere that you can even ask the therapist
How many ppl have you treated who have PTSD
I might ask my psych that as well 🙂 thanks Golden for u awesome posts

Today I had to cope with a sudden illness of a loved one,
1 People told me to relax and tried to be graceful
2 I rested when I could although some one thought I was selfish.
3 I confided in a friend.

OMG golden, that's AMAZING self-care doing all that!
And do you know what you're showing me that's THE most impressive trait of all?
COURAGE.
You have been courageous to return and now you're being guided by someone with your best interests at heart, you have the COURAGE to quit these unhelpful professionals.
AND QUIT THEM YOU HAVE.
More power to you girlfriend!
I am so impressed, you've made my day!
I'm Praying for you finding the absolute BEST GP and a Psychologist who will HELP you.
We're all here for you along that journey.
Thankyou for posting, that's really fertile, magical workings of what's come into your life JUST in time.
ONWARDS and UPwards lovely.
Love EM

Dearest Sleepy, thankyou for all your encouragement to others here, your input is priceless.
Dearest Harpbird, I'm Praying for your healing. So sweet you could have Nanny time with you grand daughter.
Dearest quirky, I'm so sorry to hear of your recent shock. I'm grateful that you took time out for your self. We NEED this some times to help us process and cope!
Many Blessings everyone.
My self-care has included:
~ buying delivery Thai food last night and it was YUMMY!
~ having today off work to catch up on sleep after a very disrupted night with Yvette's nightmares. She settled well and had a relaxing day.
~ spending HOURS in the garden today and over the weekend. There's SO MUCH to do but I'm really seeing a noticeable difference and this makes my heart sing! I LOVED being able to burn off so many sticks and logs in our chiminea - that was FUN! I also enjoyed bringing up some huge logs to make garden borders. They're looking great. Also composting the Autumn leaves... I think it's time for the Gardening Thread lol!!!
~ having a really good soak in the bath tub soon, scrubbing away with lots of nice smelling additions. Nice.
It's wonderful to see so much self-care happening from setting boundaries to CHOOSING what we do with our minds and our time, whatever flicks our switches is going to renew and empower us to deal with the tough stuff dear friends.
We've got this.

Hi
Self care
1...washed my hair in a natural wash with essential oils, then rinsed it with vinegar. Made it feel really clean and bouncy ( got vinegar in my eyes, ah stung bad. Need to be careful next time)
2...listened to a sermon about not letting the emotion of fear control me. He explained it in such a way I could understand it. Encouraging.
3... nourished my body.. ate those dark purple grapes. They have something uniquely nourishing in them. Is it antioxidants. Yeah don't know. But yeah nourishing.

Hello BB friends 😉
I have missed posting here! Altho I have kept in touch by reading, it has seemed that I haven't had much to say. Each day is just trying to cope as best I can, remembering to bring an apple and water with me, and a muesli bar at least. Walking the dog after work, if I can. He looks for me every day now, which is hard to say no to, esp when I remember how good it is for me. On days off I am doing lots of resting, apart from trying to keep on top of the washing and other chores.
Today has been a bit special tho. My youngest d is in the middle of naplans, which I asked for an exemption for. So in the time allocated for her exams we are taking time for drawing and being outside. Today we walked along the river, she with an iced coc, me with a latte. We drew each other, then a boat, and talked about how, after these days of drawing sessions, we ight each complete a painted work of art, based on our favourite sketches. I LOVE LOVE LOVE her drawings! And feel so priveleged to be able to take the time off work to be with her in this way.
Thankyou everyone for your encouraging posts, And total congrats to you Golden- well done! That sounds like a bit of a breakthru moment for you and I'm so happy for you! Loving and valueing ourselves is the best thing we can do, for sure!
Love
J*

Hello everyone,
I am finding self care when I have to care for a loved one after unplanned surgery.
His idea is total 24 / 7 care. He feels I am lazy when I say I am tired.
Today I am trying to be patient,
calmly explain if I have an hour away from home I am not being self fish
making sure I don’t get exhausted
