We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hey Blue and PsychedelicFur, nice to see you both lol...
LOVING those self-care things...
I think I have to ask "What Would Blue's Do"??? umm hold myself accountable!
My self-care looks more like a jobs list, so I need to pull mine into the "radical self-care" line quite alot... hmmm.
I DID start my Tax Return?? nup, sure it's self-care in ONE sense but....
Okay maybe I have some... I:
~ asked for help tonight... that's huge for me lol
~ said yes to someone offering to buy us dinner... which is extremely odd for me too
~ used some nice facial products.
That's alot better..

Hi all,
I feel encouraged whenever i read someone who takes the time to write considerate posts, so well done Malaika.
Yep, Em is truly a champion! Go Em! Hope you manage to tame the brush turkey!!! I like how you managed to leave jobs off your list- well done 🙂
My self care today:
*Family lunch- we shifted a few expectations and were more relaxed as a consequence. Usually I feel stressed and try and contribute something, and be there early to help, but a last minute invite meant I felt no obligation, and a lack of clarity about the time we were expected translated to us coming when we were ready. Just as well, becos as usual there were bombshells! (NOT the blonde type lolol)
* I ate a hot not-cross bun for dinner, with a cup of tea. I think I could live on these! Shell how did yours turn out?
*I put the d to bed early, and enjoyed a movie with my H.
* And I came onto the forums, and reminded myself that nice ppl do exist, and we're all in this together.
* Oh and I think I will have a cry later, becos I am just so sad at my broken foo family. I am letting go of my desperate desire to 'fix' this set of relationships, and adjusting to accepting it as it is.
Cheers, and hugs,
J*

Hello all
Ah Blue hi there. Jstar.. The hot cross buns tasted very yummy. And smelt amazing. They came out a bit dense, so I am wondering if I did not knead them properly or enough.
Self care from yesterday
1...put another bentonite clay mask on my face. Feels so cool and nourishing on my skin.
2...spent a while in the sunshine
3...Folded up all the towels, that had been drying outside. They smell so clean and sunny. Love that smell.

Dear BB self-carers...
Thankyou J*, you're so kind.
I "hear" you about what you went thru today... doesn't matter what anyone says, FOO issues are hard.
What I know FOR SURE is that you are doing your 100% BEST work on yourself, your career! Your own beautiful family... regardless of what's going on there and THERE your primary responsibilities lay.
Sometimes it's more than enough to look after OURSELVES.
There's no "fixing" family but you can most definitely EMPOWER yourself which helps us detach from any ideas of responsibility for those grown adults making their own choices.
I've definitely cried my oceans over my FOO... recently I've been able to PICK some beautifully HAPPY memories and PIN those! lol.
Big hugs.
Hey Malaika, you are so welcome here any time!
When you think about it, the following things are GREAT self-care:
~ getting out of bed
~ brushing our hair
~ patting our pets
~ brushing our teeth
~ feeling the sunshine
~ looking at nature
~ breathing deeply (if we can)
~ talking to someone, our friend, our family, a helpline
~ coming onto the forums!!
Having a SMILE today.
Thankyou for popping in and thankyou for your acknowledgement. Hugs.
Self-care was impossible for me when I began this thread, the CONCEPT of it was difficult to accept... so after being told it would help my youngest daughter to do "radical self-care" I was driven!
YOU MATTER. xxxx
Hey Shelll!
You champion you making hot cross buns lol!!!
The bready stuff is tricky to make "just right". Hugs
NEXT YEAR I'm going to begin making "Easter Pie" that has been a Family Tradition of my BF's Italian side of the family for a LONG time.
I seem to have more "time" lol as my kids are growing up... in an effort to disguise the empty nest feelings, I'm trying to embed more "traditions" that are different to "before"...
I'll make 2 Easter Pies, one Pie without the 4 eggs inside it... one son is sensitive to eggs..
Anyway I plan to put the recipes on the recipe thread next year lol.
Bestest wishes everyone!

My 3 self-care things:
~ went to the dentists oh yay.
~ had Vietnamese food for "brunch" lol
~ bought p.son's choice of meat while we were at the shopping centre... then AMAZINGLY all my kids that live here were HOME for just 3 hours all at the same time... so I made the food straight away!
It was delicious!
Sure that was self-care - no one talked much lol everyone was too busy EATING...
Then I had a NAP... it lasted 5 hours lol... can't believe it.

Hello. My self care for yesterday was, Got dressed into something comfy and walked down back yard losing myself among the trees and shrubs whilst doing some serious deep thinking. Does wonders in lovely natural environment. Had a couple of nice hot cups of tea. Walked slowly down my driveway. Did some progressive muscle relaxation. Thank you for reading. With kind regards.

Hi all,
Malaika I loved reading about your nature walk- it sounds like it was very soothing to the soul!
Shell I had two trays of buns, and the second tray got a bit more raising time, and turned out much better- not as dense. So I'm going to try that today. It's still the Easter holidays! And when Easter is over I'll just eat fruit buns lol!
Today I'm:
Going to the library-yay! Hoping they have my book, which will probably prevent me from sleeping its so good....
Get some chores done, which altho it's not self care in my books it will feel so good to relax after- very deserving!
Took my poor dear dog to the vet- he has a 'hot spot' which sprang up over the weekend. It feels good to be getting it sorted.
Have caught up with everyone's news today. Hope everyone's having a lovely day.
PS I must be getting better re FOO issues- haven't really been focusing too much on that stuff. I guess the gardening got it out of my system! It's so nice thinking of my happy little tomato plants sitting in their compost enriched holes, sprinkled with everything they could possibly need, including light rain last night.
Detachment is definitely good in this situation, with my family!
Cheers,
J*

Hello. Thank you Everyone for the encouragement.as of suggestions given by EC 🙂 My self care for today is having a nice cups of tea. Ate some miniature steamed dim sims I make myself. Enjoy looking at the birds through my window. Relaxing in s soft chair still in my jammies. Feeling a bit low today. Was all happy and positive when I went to bed last night, had a good sleep, wake up feeling lousy and in pain. Sorry, don't want to sound so pessimistic. Not in the mood to do anything at all but sit in the chair. Hope Everyone is doing real good. Have a happy day With kind regards.
