We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hey Malaika, you're doing so well, hold your own hands with self-compassion.
If we were there, we'd have a group HUG!
Excuse me but did you say "miniature dim sims" YOU MADE YOURSELF??
Ahem but if you want to we would LOVE your recipe on the Easy Peasy Recipe thread!!!
Well I WOULD for sure lol.
You clever cookie! (I think there are LOTS of creative cooks on the self-care thread!!)
xxxx
Hey J*, well looky at YOU!
Detachment is amaaaaazing lol. I was told detachment is actually a VIRTUE so how virtuous are you! lol.
Saint like with the patience of Job methinks.
Prayers for your dog's healing xxxx.
Hey PsychedelicFur, love the visualisations of your dream car! We have a Manifestations thread and it's lovely if you feel like popping in?
ALL good xxxx
My self-care was a bit left field today:
~ accepted help with driving kids alot, the help was from another child of mine lol... happy days.
~ made a "MUST DO" folder with all the stuff for the roof repairs, cheques to bank, claims for my health fund then got into them...
~ ate AWESOME Vietnamese food for lunch, gosh that's good tucker lol.
~ phoned 2 Roofing firms - TICK.
~ stopped my car at a neighbour's home when I saw a Carpenter installing a bay window... I know these neighbours and they are FUSSEEE when it comes to ppl working on their place, I asked the man for his number after he said YES he fixes ceilings!!
Yay!
I was "putting it out there" that someone would cross my path who could fix my ceilings. Happy days.
~ oops almost forgot! Had Counselling tonight and she was amazing as per... I told her that in my "falling apart on Tuesday" after shocking news... I realised I wasn't "regulating" myself and I was needing someone else to help "co-regulate" me... I thought "What Would Sami Do" Sami is not my Counsellor's real name lol... I said I did that and intuited her responses... then DID them.
I was able to alleviate the anxiety rather well and altogether on my days off.
LOTS of chopping and changing schedules today and I went with the flow easily. That's a HUGE improvement for me lol.
Ofcourse I'm on the forums for my "daily dose" lol.
LOVE EMxxxx

Hello All. My self care was a HUGE problem that I've been struggling with since the pandemic restrictions this year 2021 had been finally lifted after almost a year of a "new norm" . I actually left my dwelling today Got to the point that I no longer left my yard. Didn't go anywhere, no visiting or shops or where there were any people. That dreadful stage 4 lock down months on end almost broke me. Usually I'm a extremely strong person but this lockdown had some crazy rules especially for us oldies who weren't allowed to have visitors or were allowed to have visitors over made my depression/anxiety/PTSD go into crisis mode several times that the beyond blue covid19 hot line counselling service were amazing getting me back on track. So thought to share my huge challenge I alone had to face it by getting out of the place. I left and went for a long drive and felt oh so free. I really felt like putting my foot on the throttle and go. Took the back roads. Yeah it's longer to get to point B yet shorter as no traffic around. It was absolutely awesome 🙂 Came home a new person 🙂 with kind regards to all.

Hey Malaika
Thanks for part of your back story!
You may find that SO MANY ppl joined the BB forums throughout the Pandemic.
Clearly the pandemic had the potential to deepen any existing MHIs ppl had.
There are Covid19 threads where ppl shared what they were going through AND some still are.
Perhaps you'll find a kindred feeling having a look on there?
From my POV it looks like you did your own "Exposure Therapy" by taking that drive, WELL DONE!
Over time you may come to realise, as I have, that it was our MIND keeping us captive after restrictions were lifted. (My captivating mind works were more to do with DV / FV).
We can say THANK YOU to all of our emotions and thoughts that were endeavouring to "keep us safe" but in efforts to LIVE free of these concerns we can seek control over our thoughts, as we can practise and become Masters over.
I'm really glad you joined us, thankyou for being here and sharing.
