We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

Nice ones Willow Jude!

My 3 are:
~ having a much needed day off work
~ spending quality time with my chickens lol
~ dressing a wound that's not doing too well.
EM

Hi all,

Good work, as usual. EM, you're right about the people in the cheap seats. They don't get to see my fragile side (aka my therapeutic art), they don't deserve the privilege. The appreciation of my friends like yourself is enough. Also glad to see you taking time off to look after yourself and cuddle chickens. 🙂

If anyone's curious about the stuff EM mentioned about minimalism, my thread is "Minimalism and creating a peaceful space" in the Staying Well section. We consider it a point of self care because, rather than just having less stuff (and it's certainly not about just having an empty home), the idea behind it is about removing things from our lives that don't matter to make room for things that do. Not just stuff, but things like commitments that don't serve us, toxic friendships/relationships - removing things that detract from our quality of life and our ability to put time and energy into the relationships and activities that matter, and keeping only what adds value to our lives.

My self cares:

1) Played a game.

2) Did some modelling.

3) Drew a simple thing, just to keep in practice.

Hey everyone, loving the self-care BBers are posting about. Just like the 3 Things you're Thankful for today - practising gratitude and balancing our perspectives, self-care is good for us.

Hey Blue, 😀 I love the way you described minimalism, thankYOU!
For us it's great having so much more space, and yes we've still got stuff in tubs to move to our planned spaces, we're not tripping over as much stuff lol.
It's such a PAIN having stuff we don't need, use or even WANT any more. It's embarrassing to have things that others actually need (and we don't want), I want to pass it all on asap so others can use this stuff.

Clearing out our clothes has meant we're not going through our wardrobes, flicking past things that don't fit us or we just don't like or wear. This makes mornings far more efficient time wise and a lot less frustrating.

But the pinnacle bonus is something I didn't realise would happen or even COULD happen ....
getting rid of stuff actually IS allowing our creativity to flow. It's like it's not all clogged up or something.

Sure this is more for the Minimalism thread lol. Yeah I'm unapologetic because it's ALL about our Wellbeing and Mental HEALTH.

Love you peeps

My 3 self-care today:
~ took another day off work, hopefully my tummy settles soon
~ spent time in my garden
~ had lots of company and cuddle time with our pup.

EM

EM, so happy to hear minimising is giving you more room for being creative. Again back to the ADHD theme, being able to be creative is such a huge thing for our wellbeing. I know I cope better with everything if I have a creative outlet, and for that to happen, things like household management and causes of stress in the home need to be kept at a minimum. Hence, getting rid of clutter and putting systems in place to allow for creative time.

My self cares:

1) Video game time.

2) Finally got the shopping put away, it was really stressing me out.

3) Read my book, decided to order the next one in the series soon.

I haven't been as proactgive today in my self care as yesterday - but a few small things still made me feel good...

1. Practiced my French for 30 minutes

2. Made myself a healthy lunch

3. Washed my hair

I might still try and get out for a walk or do some mindfulness but we will see!

Well done Banksy! French hey? Awesome.

Hey Blue! Yes indeed.

ONE whole section of my Minimalism Mountain is DONE tonight.

Even though I do feel spent. Getting that huge chore done makes me feel like I achieved something extra today. I'm a bit extra every day if I'm honest lol.

That's about 200 points of self-care done today.

My 3 self-care things today:
* had 2 extra naps, yay!
* made cheesy omelettes for brunch
* continued on my Minimalism journey in my bedroom. That 5 min timer process helped!

Love EM

Hi all,

Banksy, learning another language can be pretty intense, great work.

EM, more great work with your minimising. Another step closer to doing creative stuff. Woo! Great that the 5 min timer is working for you.

My self cares:

1) Got out in the garden. Did a little bit of minimising too, threw out some junk and readied a heap of deposit bottles to get outta here.

2) Watched an art tutorial. Then did some art practice.

3) Gave myself some room to grieve. Missing Sir Pecks terribly, today, our home feels diminished without our firstborn baby bird. Spent some time looking at pictures and videos of him.

Blue.

Awww hugs Blue. Missing Sir Pecks too. Hugs.

Yes Banksy learning French is QUITE impressive! Are you using an App to learn it?
My son uses 2 Apps to learn a few different languages BUT the funniest thing I saw him do today was switch the language on his favourite online game, so he has to learn the language to know how to play it lol.

Self-care for today:
~ decluttered more of my bedroom and wow it looks crazy outside of it! hahaha... my children said that's ok, it has to get messier before it gets tidier... my bedroom looks amazing lol.
~ took another day off work today. Need to be on top of things to manage at work (AND esp not spread any yuckies)

~ did a liquid only day today. Trying to shift this tummy thing.

New posters are always welcome too!
