Not in a good space

It's like a feeling just bubbling up to the surface. It's panicky and disgusting and I dont' know what to do with it. There's no thoughts associated with it. It's a feeling. A really gross one. I called the Suicide Call Back service. I didn't find them helpful. What do you do? What helps you?

Hello Katy,

Thank you lass... the hug is much appreciated...

Here is a gentle comforting one for you as you're not feeling too chipper... perhaps your friend will be about for you to walk with... if not maybe take Storm for a walk to the bakery & buy that pink lamington you owe yourself..

I just heard on the news that places south of Perth come out of restrictions tomorrow... I hope this includes you... there is a library book awaiting you...

One step at a time with uni lass... if they've had to be closed this week then they will have a lot to catch up with so don't worry if you don't hear from them soon.

Woofa sends you soft snuffles

Hello

The thought of lockdown lifting so quickly is pretty exciting! Fingers crossed.

I couldn't sleep last night thinking about uni this semester - it's going to be huge. I find out today where I'll be doing prac. Another 13 weeks eek. I think it's going to be really important to put in place lots of self-care. It's times like these I wish I had someone here for support, but such is life.

My friend has just messaged to say she can walk with me today, so that's nice. And yes, I'll be able to get my library book tomorrow. So there's some nice things.

Glad your day went ok yesterday, Paws. Does Woofa stress without you? You mentioned he hadn't drunk despite the heat.

Hanna, I'm glad you enjoyed your swimming and music yesterday. Things are improving in that town for you finally. Wonder if you feel you might stay now? Either way, I'm pleased for you.

Thanks for being here, and for the needed hugs. Right back at you.

PS: Currently reading The Body Keeps the Score, which is about the impacts of trauma, and what helps people recover. So far it's pretty interesting. I'm concurrently reading 5 books, so may take me awhile to get through...

Hi Katy,

I am sorry I haven't been on BB until now.. it's been a bit full on here today - see my thread..

Have you heard what your prac is to be? You had a bad time with the prac last year so I hope it's something that will suit you much better. Did you go for a walk with your friend and Stormy? Does she have a dog too? I hope you did and that it helped, it's so much nicer to walk with someone you can chat to sometimes..

I looked for that book in the library here but they don't have it, rats. Are you out of lockdown I havent even heard the news?

I have a harp here now, and missed lap swimming today but took Sam for a long lovely walk late yesterday after a huge storm had cooled everying down - he had a grin from ear to ear, we're definitely cool weather people/dogs him and me!

I've been trying to play some harp and now guitar, I am keeping busy here! It's nice.

Do let me know about your prac and how you're feeling today... the weekend won't be so crazy busy it's all quiet I think.. just walking Sam and some swimming I hope.

Hugs!

Hi Hanna

Unfortunately I didn't hear from the uni yesterday, so I'll have to wait until Monday now. I'm sure they're all super busy getting ready for the new semester. I should be at yoga this morning, but have decided not to go. Feels a bit strange having just come out of lockdown and now we're all free as birds. I will go to the library though, can't wait to pick up my book! Can your library get books in from elsewhere if you request them? Just wondering if you could get The body Keeps the Score that way.

Had a nice walk with my friend yesterday. It is good to have someone to chat to. She doesn't have a dog, but loves to walk with people and their dogs, which is nice. She's a bit like us, always looking for nice ways to keep busy. Which, it sounds like you are. I'm very pleased for you. Harps are quite large. I can imagine Storm would also be scared if one suddenly appeared in the lounge room! Is it complicated switching between instruments? Or is there similarities? Sorry if that's a silly question - I've never played an instrument before.

Well it's low 20's here for a few days. We have the remnants of a cyclone coming through, so will be interesting to see how much rain we get. I'm looking forward to watching the Australian Open - do you watch the tennis at all?

Hugs, Katy

Hi Katy,

I can imagine the staff at the Uni must be flat out - I hope you hear early next week. So glad you got a walk with your friend and Stormy!

It's turned wierdly cold, overcast and on and off rainy here today, not my favourite kind of weather for a Saturday, I do like to get out and about more on a Saturday and the shopping centre is packed as everyone is going indoors.. Sam had a nice walk by the river and got pretty rained on, and I've been to the library and got some books... just the thing for a grey chilly afternoon, it feels as if autumn/winter is setting in early but yesterday was so hot, it's wierd.

I loved watching tennis with my friend in Coastal Town, I'd forgotten about it here.. ooops! It was nice to watch it with someone I found... but yes I must have a look.

I had a go at the harp last night and then guitar, it's really nice to be able to go from one instrument to another. They're similar in some ways, and the teachers think one should help the other. Everyone seems to think harp is very hard, but I find guitar quite difficult - I think anything is difficult if you want to do it really well. I've never played two instruments so this is interesting!

I'm not sure about staying here on not yet - maybe it's a bit like your Honours year.. I kind of want to see what's going to happen... I haven't yet made up my mind.. I guess I'll see how things pan out over the next few months...

Gosh it's chilly in this house i am off to grab a coffee and warm up. I should be swimming at the pool but in this weather I think I'll do that tomorrow instead!

Sending hugs.

Cold here too and has rained all weekend. I read my library book but it was pretty boring. I've felt quite lonely this weekend - probably the weather doesn't help. I decided to take Stormy for a drive, and we ended up at the beach running around in the rain having a gorgeous time. The water was lovely and warm and we had the whole place to ourselves.

Did you get to go swimming today, Hanna? I'm rugged up now in trackies and a big jacket. I got soaked through at the beach and I still feel cold. Worth it though.

Dear Katy~

I passed a comment about your hamster's physique in another thread, It was in jest to cheer the poster up and I hope did not offend or cause distress

Croix (who as you can see has a more than robust figure)

Quite ok, Croix 🙂 Hamster is a little cuddly!

Hi Katy, sorry I haven't been around. I hope everything is going OK for you, any news from the Uni re your prac? For the sake of time I'll post again over on my thread ... hugs!

Hi Katy,

Do you know anything about whether social workers can get help for someone on a pension with vision problems? I'm having difficulty reading the computer screen, and with reading the sheet music my teachers give me... I can't afford new glasses.... also I need the ceiling lights here changed to a higher wattage, but Housing said I need a support worker to put in a special request for this (!!!) and meantime I can't see in the house when it gets late... and I can't afford extra lighting, and anyway there are so few power points here I can't plug a light in anywhere.. and extension cords across the floor are already posing a hazard.

I tried Vision Australia a while ago but they were useless. I thought they would help. A friend whose mother lost her sight told me VA weren't much help. So I'm not sure where to go to get help with the computer, or lights in the house... do you have any idea that might help me? Thanks Katy... the tricky things social workers get asked! hugs.
