Not in a good space

It's like a feeling just bubbling up to the surface. It's panicky and disgusting and I dont' know what to do with it. There's no thoughts associated with it. It's a feeling. A really gross one. I called the Suicide Call Back service. I didn't find them helpful. What do you do? What helps you?

Hi Katy,

It sounds like where you live you are going to run into your ex from time to time unfortunately. One of the things I've found helpful when I know I might run into someone I'd rather not is to have a response ready and rehearsed? It I want to avoid them completely, it might be having the mobile ready so I can pretend to be talking on it... or I know to pull myself up and look busy and give a quick smile and hello and not hesitate but walk on very purosefully (which makes you feel more confident too).

It must be extra hard if you still have feelings for your ex, but would it help to have some kind of response ready for when you do come across him? Just a thought.

Hugs

Hi all

Thanks Hanna, your advice is the same given by my psych. It's a complicated situation and I'm only just starting to understand (trauma bonding). Thank you for your kind advice and non-judgement x

Paws, yes some of the succulents are very much like coral. There's one called echeveria sea dragon but it seems to be very rare. Thanks for your much needed hugs.

Sleepy - glad you can relate to my awkwardness (and desire to move away - although I love it here - can't he move? lol).

I put up my Christmas tree yesterday. I really wanted some tinsel but I went to Kmart and they didn't have any trees OR decorations! Covid really has interrupted things this year! I thought tinsel might be nice and cheerful to have hanging up, so I might try another store today. Has anyone else decorated?

29 here already and it's only early still. Stormy is doing frog legs on the floor, so I guess she's feeling it. Possible storm coming through at lunch time. Hope you're all going ok.

Hugs, Katy xo

Hi Katy,

I only put up Christmas cards I've received, since it's just me and Sam for Christmas. I do miss having a Christmas tree but I've noticed too how hard it is to get decorations, even cards, this year - another side effect of covid!!!

I understand your situation may be much more nuanced and I am sorry if sometimes my suggestions might be a bit clumsy.. sounds a bit like Stockholm Syndrome... Just know we're wishing you all the best and we have your back.

It's hot here too and then it's going to get wierdly cold again tomorrow. I walked Sam by the river this morning and he had a dip... now I'm off to my music lesson, and I still can't play F Major chord, oooops! My fingers refuse to do it.

And, I agree - he can move away, not you!

Sending hugs from us here oxoxo

Hi Katy - that's important and awesome that you love where you live. Hopefully he will eventually move! DOesn't he want a change of scenery?

I remember once seeing 3 exes in the supermarket on the same trip. This was exes from different time periods of my life - from teenage to 27 and then 31... but I was living in a very communal area and bumping into ppl all the time. I used to get supes awkward and weird and just run. One time I was waiting for the guy to leave the supermarket so I could check out, and then when I went to check out he came back anyway as he left something behind. So i avoided nothing nad had the full confrontation anyway. Life is sure tricky!

Hope the weather is nice and warm

Hi Katy - I bought an enormous, very tall, very beautiful collection of dried flowers today. They are stunning.
I've just put them in water although they told me to keep the yellow ones out of water because they could get moldy if in water. I haven't found yet how to display them so they're makeshift in a too-small ikea vase on the floor, but it's amazing how nice it is to have nature indoors!

Happy to hear if you know any thing about dried flowers as well! Thanks

Hi Katy (waves to everyone, Paws, Sleepy)

Just wondering how that dratted migraine is going - I hope it's gone away and you are doing something nice, maybe at the beach! How is your Uni break going otherwise... did you manage to find any tinsel or has the headache put a temporary stop to everything. Anyway just popping by to see how you are dear lady, hugs.

Sleepy they sound amazing! Good on you for treating yourself 🙂

I don't know anything about dried flowers though, I'm afraid. As for displaying them, I think however makes you happy works. It is great having nature indoors - apart from my pot plants, I have shells and twigs. I'm thinking about getting crafty and trying to glue some to a canvas, along with an airplant, for some wall art - what do you think?

Gosh - 3 exes in one shop? arggggh! That would be challenging! A bit like playing pacman lol

Hanna, how's things with you? I did pop into your thread, but you don't seem very chatty there. Hope everything's ok with you and lovely Sam. You've had cooler weather, so maybe you're just out enjoying it. I hope so.

Cool here again - looks like maybe a shower incoming - my plants will like that. OK it's already here! How lovely ❤️

I feel lonely and it suits my mood. Let me know what you're all up to. I could do with the company x

Hi Katy, I think we just missed each other! We are having a blah day here too, it must be catching! I think some craft sounds like a terrific idea, you can take a pic of it and post it up here please!!! Then we could all enjoy it too!

Going to make a cuppa and have some quiet time in the shade of a tree with little Sam I think...

Sleepy, the dried flowers sound lovely, you can just keep them in a vase without water, maybe put some coloured pebbles in the vase if you like to pretty it up.. They're nice to have indoors... I have artificial eucalyptus leaves which look real in a white vase - eucalyptus green and white is nice and fresh looking!

Sending you soft hugs from little Sam Katy and Sleepy xoxo

Hi Katy, how are you?

That sounds spot-on to me - I love it!!! I think it will just glow with that natural base indoors. Airplants are very fun you can get a lot of different kinds!

Loving the flowers... they are extremely tall so I will have to get something to put them in as they are kinda precarious and leaning against the wall. Apparanlty they will open up a little... 🙂

Lol re pacman! totally!

How are u doing today? I've seen people use twigs and then wrap wool around them and add things to them in interesting patterns, and add baubles. The shells sound spectacular too. I'm pretty relieved the flowers weren't a disaster as I've never bought them before!!

Hello

Sorry I didn't get back yesterday. Just can't seem to stay in a decent mental space atm.

But.. I love, love, love the idea of getting crafty with twigs and wool! I'm going to try make a "Xmas tree" for my lounge room. That should be cheerful and fun! Thanks for the idea 🙂

Did you manage to find a way to arrange your flowers, that makes you happy, Sleepy?

Another cool day here. Hopefully my friend will want to go for a walk today, as it's supposed to be warm the rest of the week and she definitely won't want to come. I need some company!

Hugs to anyone popping in xo
