Hi Katy,
So what sort of flower does it get????
No I don't use facebook... just Ebay... bought myself a couple of 2nd hand books to read over Xmas...
I've written most of my Xmas cards - makes me feel a bit less guilty for having a blah at-home day. And I got little Sam's picture back with his tongue out at the beach...
I remember years ago going to the Botanical Gardens in the big city here when they had a huge plant flower that smelt like rotting flesh.. it was gross but interesting.. reminds me of your smelly plant. I wonder if it was some kind of giant succulent.
hugs

Hanna
I'm sorry, we must have cross posted this morning. I just saw that you're having a blah day also, but I missed your post. I see you've got your other lovely pic of Sam up, so I hope that's cheered you a little. How are you feeling now? Did you manage to achieve anything? And you know what? It's perfectly ok if you haven't. Some days are just like that, and it's ok. Sometimes we just get through the day.
I woke up with a loud inner critic (as people here call it). It's so strange to have such a clear internal voice that says really mean shit when I'm just trying to get on with my day. Anyway, I took Storm to the beach and perhaps the sunshine and her joy scared it away. We didn't even stay long as there were jellies, but long enough...
I think I'll go hang out in the garden for a bit. I hope you're going ok. Thanks for checking in, it's very kind of you xo

Hi Katy,
I wrote about six Xmas cards and that's it. Don't know what it is about today but I don't want to do anything. It's even an effort to play guitar... just vegging out on the couch. Sam is wondering why we aren't walking anywhere...
Sorry to hear about your inner critic, glad the sea and surf helped. Bluebottles are nasty...
I think you're right and I should just go with the feeling I don't want to do anything!!! hugs

Hello Katy,
It seems we all had a bad day today... I decided to try to get out of my own head by looking up the name of my plant for you... well it worked... the getting out of my own head bit... as for being able to name my plant.... ummm.... that was harder than I thought it could possibly be... 3 & a bit hours later I think I might have the right plant name....I think the genus is: Aeonium... but... & there are a couple of buts...
I found pictures that looked exactly like mine.. but.... they didn't name the plant...
the closest named picture belonged to.... aeonium-arboreum-var-atropurpureum... but... when I googled it under that name... lots of the pictures looked very much different to my plant.
I'm going to try & take a good picture of my plant & pop it up here.

Hi Katy (waves to Paws, Sleepy!)
I think you might be on a bit of a downer? I hope you are OK... we are shivering in 9 degrees here this morning, it's ridiculous!
I wanted to say how nice it's been to have you back on BB a bit more - you've been so busy with Uni during much of this year and naturally we haven't seen so much of you here - and it's lovely to have you back posting and hearing about you and Stormy and your garden... I did want to let you know that you've been missed while you've been busy studying. Do be gentle with yourself dear lady.
Sending fluffiest of hugs oooxxx

Hey Katy, how are u?
How's ur week going - have u been enjoying ur books? They sound really interesting as I know u got the RBG book too!
Hope the weather's been good for some walks!
I'm pretty low-energy, barely sleeping which isn't great but hoping tonight might be a bit better as I've been in the sun all day which tires me out. It's cold here in Melbourne today.
Hi everyone else here 🙂

Hi all
Dragged my butt out of bed to go to the corner store for a hamburger - was just really craving one. Well, sometimes finding any reason to get up is good enough, right? It was a good hamburger too! 3pm... oh well
I wonder if you guys are faring any better today?
Paws -yes, it's complicated trying to identify plants, and you can look up the name of one and it looks different in different pictures, as you've said. I'll keep an eye out for your pic. I'm glad it kept you occupied for a bit anyway, I can certainly think of worse ways to spend my time than ogling plant pics online 🙂
I see you're both having strangely cool weather over that way now Hanna and Paws. Bizarre! My son said he's sweating through 39 in the big city, with no aircon. I suggested he go browse at the big shopping centre, but he declined a km walk in the heat - having no car/license. Just over 30 here and pretty ideal. I'm going to wander down and have a look where they're building the tiny houses. Yesterday they had the ground marked out. They're around the size of a decent caravan. They've made "termite mounds" so I'm guessing that's for the footings?
Hanna, thanks for your kind words, and Sam for the hugs - I'm guessing they were from Sam 😉 Did you manage to get your cards written out? I think it's a beautiful thing too, I've always enjoyed getting a hand-written card.
Sleepy you'll have seen my week's a bit up and down - how about you? Thanks for asking x
I'm trying to finish off the books I had to abandon while uni was on, so I've got 2 more I'm halfway through before I start a newbie. That requires more motivation than staring at walls. Ho hum. I wonder if you know that feeling? I'm low energy too - hope you get some sleep tonight! Cold in Melbourne too, hey? Looks like we've had a switch!
Take care lovely folk. Always pleased to see messages here from you all. Lots of nice wishes from me n Stormy xo

Hello Katy,
Its been cloudy & gloomy all day so this is the clearest picture I could get. It's hard to see in this pic but the rosette is at the top of the stalk. Sometimes it remains as just one stalk which just keeps getting longer, but others have new stalks branch out from the central stalk with rosettes on the end of each stalk. This has been on the verandah out of the rain & I haven't been watering it so it's gone this deep plum colour. If I keep the water up to it it stays green.
I can't remember the last time I bought a hamburger... there is something about a good one that is just so yummm. Definitely worth getting out of bed for.
When the little houses are built you will have to take a pic for us to see.
Hugs
