I am mmMekitty, named for my cat, (my avatar), who lived 7 years. It has been five or so years since, but I still miss her. Mekitty an I had a simpler relationship than any I have had with people.
The photo is the one I to retrieved after my hard drive crashed. She had wandered off, was away for six days, when she turned up again in the middle of the night. I cried with relief. This was the photo I used for her Lost Cat poster I put up around the neighbourhood at the time.
As for me, I cannot see the detail of the photo nearly as well as I did then, and then my sight was poor. I am now using text-to-speech software, zooming on my pc, voice over. Since I find this stuff difficult, I get really frustrated.
I used to keep all my emotions in check, so much so, I thought and said I did not have any feelings or reactions to anything. That changed and I could not deny the existence of my emotions. It was a terrifying time. What was happening to me? I was falling apart and all this unidentifiable stuff was pouring out.
I have had to learn so much since I began seeing the Psychiatrist I saw back then (1993 - 95). From learning I had to put words to the experiences, name, own, accept them. Still uncomfortable. I beat up on myself too much, I know.
I used to do things I can no longer do to my own satisfaction. I still sing, but not like I used to. I cannot paint like I did. I cannot use pen and paper to write, so have managed to adapt to keyboard. That is something. I have been working on being more sociable, less isolated, but last year, when COVID-19 retrictions required face masks be worn, I found I could not - which is what brings me here.
I have had to curtail so much of what I had been doing. I am feeling the isolation now. How ironic! I resisted even thinking I needed anybody, then I try to have some friends, join a writers' group, get help with things like housework and shopping, going to places for fun and entertainment, only to have to withdraw again because I cannot wear a mask. It bites, like a scorpion.
I will make a thread, now I found the place to click to create one! I think my problem was with how I have my desktop appearance. It looks like any ordinary link, hiding below another, for creating a feed link. Now I know.
I suppose I will get around to talking more about myself. I will need to be careful about how involved I become, so please, don't expect me to pop up everywhere. I would burn out if I did that.

Hi Motz,
Thanks for dropping by.
Funny, about the boobs, mean. If they are so over-rated, why do so-called men's mags & porn promote the idea that bigger is better? Why was the Barbie doll form, & the hour-glass figure so idealised? & push-up bras, bras more than a little padded, plunging necklines, silicon enhancements promoted to already healthy women.
This could become quite a debate!
*
I think I'll be okay. So long as I get through the fasting! Then dealing with the anticipated limited mobility around my shoulders & underarm, & physical pain. Then I gotta do exercises. I findit hard to stick to doing repetitive exercises. & having someone else in to deal with after care. I feel uneasy every time I have to let someone else into my flat. Not as bad as I used to, but still... it's just pretty big. πΈ

Not so many men? I think you are right. You ar still very welcome.πΊ

Hi mmMekitty
Good luck with fasting and of course your surgery. Do you have a special pillow or blanky to take with you. I never do but I have my iPad and apps to keep me safe. Load some music and take earplugs. ππΆπΌπ΅π§πΉπ₯πΈ
Your can plan your post surgery meal Iβm always starving and order the roast. Nurses intervene and I get a sandwich and tea and more rest usually π They donβt believe I have a cast iron stomach. Sometimes some pale sultana cake bleh
Its good to have help you will appreciate it and I hope you get a quiet respectful person. Clue them in immediately donβt touch me without asking and lower your voice whatever helps.

Hi Hanna, MC & all,
Yes, tomorrow is the big day. Gotta get in early, & fill out some green form, then there is the Lymph Node Localisation Scans & then, I am presuming, ('cause I can't remember) I'm going to the ward, & have a shower, before going into surgery. On the phone I was told to have a shower, washing hair too, the night before, (tonight), & then another in the morning. If she said anything more about that I forgot or didn't take it in...
I have decided I will have a bottle of water next to my bed, & when I am awake, I can sip it (& eventually have to get up), until 6am, I can take one of my meds early, so I will keep that there too. I'll have to remember to keep check on the time if it looks like sunrise out there. (if it's cloudy in the morning that might be tricky).
I don't like not being able to pre-pack everything I want for hospital. I don't to forget anything, like my tooth paste & tooth brush. Anything els I haven't thought I will need? This is something anxiety does to me. I fear I'm just not prepared - practically speaking.
I'm gonna miss my big milky coffee morning tumbler full.πΎ

Thank you all, again. β€οΈπ»β€οΈ

Hi mmMekitty
I guess phone and charger, medications, slippers, light cardigan in case the ward air conditioning is too cold, keys comb/brush/toothbrush, debit/credit card (don't take much cash) in case you want to purchase something...
Nighties...anything else in particular you will need.
Very best wishes! π€

Oh, yes, I sure do hope I can pre-order my first meal after. Not sure what time that'll be, because I am scheduled to go in shortly after 1pm. Maybe I ought to try for a dozen sandwiches? πΊ
Good idea to try, because someone will have to read the menu to me anyway.

Hello Dear Kitty π±..
Calling In to let you know that Iβm wishing you the best for tomorrow and will be thinking of you...
Even though itβs not an overly long stay ...maybe something special to you, that you can put on your bedside table....The last time I was admitted to hospital I took along with me, my little fluffy stuffed toy that I keep on my bed at home..
Very best wishes Kitty π±..with kindness and care..
Grandy..

Dear mmMekitty πΊ (with a wave to everyone):~
I guess you will realise from the number of people (males includedπMotz:) that have come to wish you well that you have touched the heartsπof so many people here, who care for you and have their respective paws, fingers, flippers or whatever is appropriate) crossed π€for you.You have also been given a deal of excellent practical suggestionsπ, and I'll not try to add to them.
I have no doubt I will see you after the op when you can get your communications organizedπ². After the dust settles once again many will once again benefit from your posts, both about the numerous problems you are overcoming, but also those you make directly to particular posters, messages π which I think are very warm and helpful. As I may have mentioned before you do have a talent for itπ.
When you think about it just the accounts of your problems and the way you remain cheerful and deal wiht them gives inspiration, comfort and hope to many. In fact to far many more than you would realise. The vast majority of people here at the Forum do not join, do not post, but do read - and come back for more.
All that may seem pretty general waffle so I'll say on a peronal note you have given me much. Apart from having the legacies resulting from PTSD, depression and anxiety I am stuck with several deteriorating physical issues that cannot be regarded as paltry. When they seem all to gang up and leave me feeling completely unequal to the challenge (and just want to stay in bed with the covers over my head) I think of you persevering, and that helps
Croix - raising a (400ml) π₯ of water to you
P.S. Sumo Cat and Foxy Dog send their good wishes too.

Hi & thanks, I'm just trying to fit in a toasted cheese sandwich & the rest of my lettuce, before midnight*! (when it might turn into yucky pumpkin)
Cheeky Croix! That's the first time anyone ever gave me a π! I assume Mrs C edited & approved?
Grandy, I meant to tell you, I love all your ideas of 'comfort' things to take.πΊUnfortunately the hospital want people to take the barest minimum. I am taking my new pillow with a new pillow case on it. It' has Galahs on it
I am also taking my phone, & risk having a go at posting, although, the thing is so frustrating to use, I may get cranky enough for the entire hospital to hear me swearing.
Love to all furry friends. (I wish I could sneak them in, even Sumo, if I could find a big enough bag. Maybe I should stick to πΈπΈπΈπΈπΈπΈπΈπΈ?
