Hi all. I just need to get this out somewhere. I am in a very dark place. I feel as though someone is sitting on my chest and have so much emotional pain yet feel numb at the same time. Im alone and lonely. I hate myself and who I am. I am so tired of fighting to get well and when I go to bed I pray to not wake up. I can’t keep going on like this. I need to get better

Thanks for being with me through this journey.

I don’t have the confidence at this stage to start a conversation with strangers. I’m struggling to have conversations with people I know. I just feel like I’m not worthy of their time. I am trying though. I have improved. If someone rings me at least I’ll answer now. That’s a start.

I have a really bad back at the moment and it’s stopping me from doing a lot. It’s getting me really down.

Hopefully the medication helps my moods stabilise. I just wish it wasn’t so hard. I hope I can be sorted soon. I don’t have much more fight left in me.

I feel like I’m drowning. I just have no motivation or anything.

Hi Captain T,

I understand it’s really hard but please don’t succumb to the darkness.

Firstly I am safe.

Feeling really low again today. I tried to keep myself occupied today however I failed. At least my house is clean and I’ve had a shower. I went for a short walk but I didn’t help.

Hi Captain T,

Sorry it's been a while. Sorry to hear that today was a bad day but good to hear you're safe. Also great to hear that you tried to keep active today and were able to do some tidying plus some exercise. I know you mentioned it didn't help today but please keep at it. It's the small victories that matter most in a game of inches. As you mentioned, you're not alone in this journey.

Hi Captain T,

I'm so happy to hear you are safe.

It's sounds to me like you didn't fail today...... your house is clean and that's something 😀

It's a marathon Captain T and it's one you are winning.

Perseverance pays off.......... keep persevering and hang in there.

Hi Captain T

I'm so glad you're safe.

As far as letting things run their course, do you know what this part of the course is about? I'm a firm believer in there being a reason for everything. While depression impacts us mentally (with all that internal dialogue) and physically (with all that deeply tormenting chemistry), I often wonder how and why it manifests naturally, in a variety of ways. I wonder based on my own experience. Sometimes I find myself wishing someone would show up at the front door, when I go through depressing periods, and say 'I've come to let you know what this is all about'. Would be so much easier than taking days, weeks or months to work out exactly what or who is depressing. It's such hard work Captain T, trying to work it all out for yourself.

I think a lot of the time it can relate to heartbreak of some nature. Whether we're grieving for a lost sense of self or being kind of forced to finally let go of some old belief systems we've been clinging onto or feeling the disappointment process in some other way or it relates to some sense of loneliness we feel while the heart is desperate for someone to help us navigate the tormenting course we're on, so much of this stuff can be felt so deeply. Do you ever feel there are times where if everyone around you could not hear, you'd scream at the top of your lungs for as long as it would take to lose your voice or become completely exhausted of the frustration that's felt? I think sometimes depression can have a lot of 'pressure cooker' moments, where venting becomes a must.

Hi Captain T

Im still here. I will always keep checking on you.I have a husband 4 children, who take a big toll on who I am and how I feel. It’s very hard for me to do what’s necessary for myself to become better as my children are all on the Autism spectrum and are extremely difficult for me to handle on top of my own things. So at the moment I’ve given up working on me and concentrating on them. I am usually a very positive bubbly person when I’m not stuck in the dark. But the people you surround yourself with can make a huge impact. My people are very negative unfortunately.  You have every tool to get out of this. The fact that you are connecting with your feelings is huge. Like therising said, we need to force ourself to take control of the wheel because our depression is happy to take auto pilot and we can’t let that happen. My medication kept me safe but not much more than that. Which I’m thankful for anyway. I don’t have a doctor working with me anymore, so I’m a bit scared, but know I can do it. If we can get through this, we can do anything xx

Hi all

I feel like I am in the pressure cooker. I’m scared of what happens if the pressure releases. I really can’t take much more.

Hi Captain T,

Im sorry things are feeling distressing at the moment.

Do you think you could get in contact with your mental health team and let them know how you are feeling? If you want to.
