It's been a while since I was on the forums, so I just wanted to make a post saying that I'm back. However, I'll try my best to limit my time, comments, etc on here.
I won't bother tagging anyone, and I'll try to keep this as my only open thread that I have created.
I've missed everyone I've spoken to on here, and I hope to talk to some new people. I have been using my offline supports - my Psychiatrist, GP, Parent support of course, and a Social Worker. I'm in the process of finding a Psychologist but I'm having no luck.
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, and also I hope I haven't upset anyone on the forums or anything like that because nothing was intentional, so I deeply apologise.
An update on me, I recently turned 21, can't do much with COVID though, it's a hard year for everyone unfortunately.
I also have a milestone, an achievement, I've been seeing my Psychiatrist for a year which is the longest I've stayed with a therapist. And I also finally have a GP I feel comfortable with. I'm on different meds that seem to be working a little but I still of course have my moments, but these meds I've been on the longest for out of any of the ones I've tried.
Other than that, please don't feel pressured to comment anyone, although it would be nice to connect with some people, old or new, but like I said that's okay. I just wanted to check in.
If you've read this and made it this far, thank you. Stay safe and take care everyone, as much as possible with the unfortunate COVID circumstances.
Thinking of all the Beyond Blue Mods & Users. I've missed everyone.

Hey- I can understand your perspective. I know they're not meant to be your friend either but they acn still hurt your feelings.. so i understand that for sure.
My GP used to always run hours late and i thought he was putting me as his last patient - i got quite angry
I told him I have sleep issues and it's not fair that I have to have evening appointments as it's not working for me -I was actually hurt that he kept doing this and felt neglected. I got anry and upset at him but it kind of worked as now I have day time appointments every time.
So I can understand still getting upset. Sometimes they have issues of their own and are struggling in a way to communicate - like my GP has punctuality issues for sure, he can't say no and takes extra emergency appts making him always hours late. But I took it personally.
I can really understand you as I also take things personally sometimes.

Good point, I'm sorry to hear about your GP. At least you have earlier appointments now.
Sometimes I'm sitting in the waiting room waiting for my GP, he comes out and gets patients, even those who have come in after me, in my appointment time, and just looks at me but doesn't acknowledge me. He's acknowledged me before and apologised and said he'll be with me shortly but still. I guess they run late and most GPs do that.
My Psychiatrist is always, every session, a few minutes late, like 5-10 mins. Then this makes my appointment times quicker a lot, because his reviews are 20-30 mins with every patient, unless you're new then it's 60 mins. I think he forgets about me and I feel like hanging up. He should be more prepared, do you agree? I know they're busy but it's my appointment time and this makes it shorter so it's frustrating. Telehealth is the only way I can see my Psychiatrist because he's in NSW and I'm in VIC.

hey Tayla my GP is exactly the same. Totally!
Sorry that happens that he doesn't acknowledge you but I do truly think sometimes good gps are very hectic and busy particularly if they are bulk billing. Sounds like ur gp is like mine - very busy!!!

hey tayla sorry i didnt finish the message i had something come up -
I understand you mentioned sometimes it hurts your feelings etc but I would think more of it in terms of him doing his job properly. Ppl who have anxiety or PTSD need stability in their appointments and to be contained...
i think it would be quite stressful if he's always 5 - 10 minutes late. I don't think it's about being rude or not caring about you or anything like that, although I know it can feel like that. It's a bit unsettling being that late always....but I don't know if he'd be likely to change that if he's always like that... I think it is important to see if he's very apologetic about the lateness or just ignores it. I can understand if he's very apologetic, that means he might just not be so good with time

Hi Tayla I have a different perspective on being told to see a psychologist.I think it would make more depressed being told that way.I think a health professional should be putting a positive spin on why you should see a psychologist rather then scaring you and making feel worst by making it a negative thing for you if you don't see one.He might think that it's the best way to approach with you by using shock.
I manage to adventurally get a little sleep last night. When I get tired I can't see my phone to read and send msgs or I would be on here all night.
Tale care,
Mark.

Hi all.
Sleepy - sorry to hear about your GP. I have to pay everytime I go but I'm on the DSP so it's cheaper. I'd rather pay & travel to get good care. The Doctors in my town were horrible. He just ignores the lateness but as you said, sounds like he's not good with time. I don't want to change GPs or anything. Well maybe the GP but not my Psychiatrist.
Mark - I completely agree, thank you for having the same mindset. Glad you got some sleep.

hi i've heard about the dsp, does that make sessions cheaper?
thats good and i so agree it's worth it to travel for a good gp and for good healthcare in general.
Are u able to see a psychologist in Melbourne over telehealth? There's many here and more variety.
They will have long waitlists at this time now but you could still probably get in for feb which culd just be something to look forward to.
