It's been a while since I was on the forums, so I just wanted to make a post saying that I'm back. However, I'll try my best to limit my time, comments, etc on here.
I won't bother tagging anyone, and I'll try to keep this as my only open thread that I have created.
I've missed everyone I've spoken to on here, and I hope to talk to some new people. I have been using my offline supports - my Psychiatrist, GP, Parent support of course, and a Social Worker. I'm in the process of finding a Psychologist but I'm having no luck.
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, and also I hope I haven't upset anyone on the forums or anything like that because nothing was intentional, so I deeply apologise.
An update on me, I recently turned 21, can't do much with COVID though, it's a hard year for everyone unfortunately.
I also have a milestone, an achievement, I've been seeing my Psychiatrist for a year which is the longest I've stayed with a therapist. And I also finally have a GP I feel comfortable with. I'm on different meds that seem to be working a little but I still of course have my moments, but these meds I've been on the longest for out of any of the ones I've tried.
Other than that, please don't feel pressured to comment anyone, although it would be nice to connect with some people, old or new, but like I said that's okay. I just wanted to check in.
If you've read this and made it this far, thank you. Stay safe and take care everyone, as much as possible with the unfortunate COVID circumstances.
Thinking of all the Beyond Blue Mods & Users. I've missed everyone.

Good question Tayla I think you can cancel appointments if you want to and have a break.I have done it as i felt it was just not helping me and stressing me out.I don't think they would contact you as no one did for me.Its your decision if you feel a break will be beneficial for you and you can always cotact them if needed.
Tale care,
Mark.

Hello Dear Tayla...
I think it would be okay to cancel your appointments..but let them know that you’re needing a break...Just not turning up at appointments and have your mental health team worry about you..isn’t really fair on them..
I totally forgot to turn up to an appointment with my Dr..as my phone was off...they rang a few times..then contacted my “In case of emergency”number..(my son)..who was very concerned contacted me through fb on my I-Pad....and said my Dr rang him,,.and if I don’t ring her before 6pm...she will have the police out to take me to hospital regardless of how I was feeling....
I rang her and apologised so much to her...and explained my phone was of and didn’t remember the appointment..She asked me to please leave it on daily..which I do now....I felt so bad about them worrying about me...it took me down for a while...so please Tayla..if you’re wanting a break..please let them know..
Do you feel safe enough to take a break from your support workers?
Love and hugs dear Tayla.
Grandy..

Thanks for your replies.
Monkey - yeah good point. I don't get contacted asking how the previous sessions were. He (my Psychiatrist) who I see on Telehealth (he's in another state & I've always seen him like that) was listening & then towards the end when I was talking about how I'm not sure if my meds are working, he started looking down at his floor & he seemed to zone out. I understand he's busy, has other patients, etc. but that's my time & he should still listen & pay attention. I know when he writes stuff down he's paying attention but he was just looking at the floor, he wrote stuff down in the session too though (I don't know what he writes apart from his letters). I guess I was just generally asking, like would they do a welfare check where Emergency Services come?
Mark - thanks, I can't contact my Psychiatrist personally because of privacy so I have to email the Executive Assistant at the Telehealth company if I need something passed onto him & she lets me know his replies if any, otherwise we talk about certain stuff in our sessions. I wish I could have an email or phone number, or an office number. I'd only use it for serious things, because I respect his privacy. I know Psychiatrists and Psychologists do that with patients if they have to contact them, they have an email or number to call.
Grandy - yeah I guess you're right. Sorry to hear that that happened to you. I've only cancelled my GP appointments because he doesn't do much for me so I'm wasting my time. My Parents say I must see my Psychiatrist so they don't let me cancel that (they're being supportive & protective, not controlling), & I'm more comfortable with my Psychiatrist as I've known him since 2019.
I tried telling my Psychiatrist that I don't feel like my antidepressants are working because I still feel very depressed & I feel like I'm in this deep depression I can't escape from & he just said "mhm", this was when he was looking at the floor. He also said he's not a fan of doing 2 things at once (so changing my antidepressants & putting me on the meds for PTSD which also drop your blood pressure). I haven't taken the PTSD meds yet, I'm very hesitant to do so because of the blood pressure, my GP, Parents and him of course know this. I was on old antidepressants that I took at night, like I would have to with the PTSD meds when I'm in bed, and I felt dizzy, and some meds the dizziness lead into the next day, such as when I was walking, and I had to stop. I mentioned this.
So idk

Maybe I could say to my Psychiatrist in the next session (I haven't booked one yet) that I felt like he wasn't listening to me, what do you all think?
Also generally speaking, what are GPs meant/able to do for mental health? All I know is they can do referrals and prescribe meds. Is there anything else they can do?

Hi Tayla yes see your pschiatrist again.I think him just looking at the floor might have been him just thinking?I know I do that when I am thinking and trying to work things out.A GP probably dosnt do that much for mental health apart from medications checking on side effects and whether they are working.Mine changes mine or increases or decreases doses. She has a chat with me seeing how I am going to me if their is anything she can do for me.I still need to see a GP for all my other health problems.I wish you had a really good GP it really makes a difference with all your health concerns .
Tale care,
Mark.

Can't see my Psychiatrist until March 1st. I should've made an appointment earlier but I haven't felt like seeing anybody, I don't feel like seeing anyone ever again because I keep getting let down.
My GP doesn't help much. I see him on the 9th. I feel like cancelling it though.

I'd have a good think about what it is you want to improve in your life and seek it.
In my experience ppl disappoint bcas we are all flawed. No one has all the answers for a person. It's within them.
You are the master and creator of your destiny.
If you approve of yourself you can go far in life.
Really have a think about what you want and need in your life and go after it.
