Hi everyone, mb20lover here. I wasn't sure where to post this.

It's been a while since I was on the forums, so I just wanted to make a post saying that I'm back. However, I'll try my best to limit my time, comments, etc on here.

I won't bother tagging anyone, and I'll try to keep this as my only open thread that I have created.

I've missed everyone I've spoken to on here, and I hope to talk to some new people. I have been using my offline supports - my Psychiatrist, GP, Parent support of course, and a Social Worker. I'm in the process of finding a Psychologist but I'm having no luck.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, and also I hope I haven't upset anyone on the forums or anything like that because nothing was intentional, so I deeply apologise.

An update on me, I recently turned 21, can't do much with COVID though, it's a hard year for everyone unfortunately.

I also have a milestone, an achievement, I've been seeing my Psychiatrist for a year which is the longest I've stayed with a therapist. And I also finally have a GP I feel comfortable with. I'm on different meds that seem to be working a little but I still of course have my moments, but these meds I've been on the longest for out of any of the ones I've tried.

Other than that, please don't feel pressured to comment anyone, although it would be nice to connect with some people, old or new, but like I said that's okay. I just wanted to check in.

If you've read this and made it this far, thank you. Stay safe and take care everyone, as much as possible with the unfortunate COVID circumstances.

Thinking of all the Beyond Blue Mods & Users. I've missed everyone.

- mb20lover.

Hi Tayla I have changed and seen many GPs over the years and their is no problem changing Doctors. Its your health you have a right to.

Good point Mark. I guess any GP at that clinic has many patients & they wouldn't get offended if someone changes, well they shouldn't. I've also heard patients say at reception that they usually see a certain GP but they were away or something so they booked them in to see somebody else. But that was an elderly person who said that so that's a bit different.

I know people have more important issues than me, I understand. This GP I booked in with deals with Paediatrics, general medical issues, mental health, etc. So he sees patients of all ages really, it should be fine. I've never really seen a young person see my GP but that doesn't mean that he doesn't see patients. The youngest I've seen was probably like 30 or so, and the rest 40 and up. I haven't seen any teenagers or people who look like they're in their 20s or little kids, not that I'm aware of.

There's 3 waiting rooms anyway & I think this GP is in the 3rd one, my GP is in the 2nd waiting room, so he wouldn't see me anyway. It would come up on the file, and the new GP should be able to get all of that.

Hi Tayla if you go to see another GP at the same clinic that's great because they can easily access all ur notes etc

good luck with the new gp

it sounds good to see one who works a lot with children and young ppl. Maybe you can ask them a bit in the first session to confirm that they have interest and experience in MH. hope it goes well next week

Will do, thanks Sleepy. If he's good, I'll let my Psychiatrist know to write notes addressed to him and my previous notes will be there, even from GPs I saw in my town (they were AWFUL).

Hey again everyone.

I was just checking on the Clinic's Facebook page, this new GP I booked in with (he's not new, but he's new for me), is also one of the Directors there. When I was seeing someone at Wellways, she said both him and the one I currently see are good. I'll make sure to tell him I have mental health issues & about my Bunion when I see him. I'm anxious but also kind of excited (well not excited, what I mean is I hope that it will be good and I can make some progress). Maybe he might know some Psychologists locally too.

Hey Tayla

Good on you for being proactive about your care. I hope the new GP works out well for you, and has some advice to offer about psychologists too.

Thanks Katy, I hope it goes well too.

I'll keep everyone updated here.

Hi Tayla that is good you found a new GP I hope they are good and helps you.It is really important to have doctor that you feel comfortable with and that helps you. Finding a good psychologist is just as important and one that is right for you and you need to feel comfortable with them.

Take care,

mark.

Hey Mark, thanks. I hope this different GP is ok & can help me. Even if I were to keep seeing my GP, I can't see him now until Feb. This GP I'm seeing has some on the 21st & so on.

I was looking at my current GPs profile & it says he deals with Muscoskeletal stuff, but he hasn't done much with me, same with mental health. Weird.

Hi Tayla my doctor's interest on her profile are children's health and woman's health but I found her good with my mental health. She always makes me feel comfortable when I walk in and the first thing she will ask me is if I have been on any motorbike rides and how are the kids and is always happy to give me advice on the kids and check their latest reports from doctors and test they have had without making an appointment for them. She is my kids doctor as well.
