Tony like this poem,

especially the last lines.

Put clothes upon their own skeleton

                        They carry around with them

                                    -all the damn time……

Hi Bob_22

Just reading again, & I really like the last line:

"What lingers on when whispers speak"

I've had a troubling sort of day, & somehow, that line has struck a chord within me. Thank you.

TOP HATS AND TAILS

Top hats and tails of the creatures born

clique of a kind seek outsiders torn

To tear the heart of Samaritans of vision

out numbered by poppies that make decisions

And the trumpets blast as the cocoon has split

to reveal the butterfly with a woody wit

to call upon those with chests, no medals adorn

Top hats and tails of the creatures born

With whispers over café dribble and fire

Quasi council with no tuxedo attire

Squash the Samaritan with a sharp whack

Only when the butterfly has turned his back

That’s the way the culture goes down

 Pitter patter when not around

lust for power and hearts are torn

Top hat without tails of the creatures born

And the bees play trumpets and the birds still sing

 that’s what nature always brings

Meeting place dormant no meeting a fire

 whispers go on…without tuxedo attire…

Come here to us , new to the land

speak and tell us of your plan

We are the ones no medals adorn

Top hats no tails of the creatures born...

In a crowded house, I'm on my own.
Laughter echoes, I can't partake,
Isolation lingers, it's my heartache.
then family is near, yet distant as a stone.
Amidst my kin, I feel alone...

Thank you, Wolfie.

One thought leads to another. (& some thoughts are never very far away).

* But I Did Recall

I felt so small -

Against the wall.

He feet so tall;

I was going to fall.

I couldn’t speak at all,

But I did recall.

Next, I kicked & brawled

But didn’t sprawl.

Will I use my voice & call

& stop this, once & for all?

CARAVAN REPAIRS

Running repairs in good old Junee
In the middle of the summer heat
So I used some glue that's super
And fixed the hinge on our dunny seat

Then it was midnight in our Sunny
And I was counting sheep when my wife let one rip
And disturbed me in my sleep

So up I got and dodged our pups
Then squeezed into the tiny loo
It all felt rather permanent
As the seat oozed of superglue

I tried with all my might to stand
Then the seat tore from that cassette
Pain was excruciating
I had to have a bex

I passed by the kitchen sink
And I needed to be fed
Spotted a can of spam beef pie
And slices of some bread

With my misses snoring like a trooper
A midnight walk was on
A hat, a torch and umbrella
And I be bloody gone

Well the coppers pulled me up
As I paced the CBD
Ya can't get any sleep with snoring
I'm sure you cops agree?

Well they looked at me a little odd
I had a funny feeling pass
Then the Sargent quietly asked
What's that dunny seat... doing on your arse?

Well I reached around to realise
That the dunny seat was stuck
The cops held on for dear life
To pull it off my butt

Finally "at the count of three"
A last tug to slip its grip
It at last let go alright
When I let a big one rip.

Well I made it back wife was angry
I was almost in the nude
She asked in a whispering tone
Did you eat the doggies food?

So be careful where you put your glue
And read labels in some light
And expect the unexpected
In the middle of the night...

UNCLE WITH A HEART

Three decades ago he knew you from the start

Then watched you grow up tall that uncle with a heart

He stirred you all the timie, every chance he got

You were the apple of his eye, you were his “forget me not”

And on that saddest day, of all the news you had

You lost your beautiful uncle, no wonder you were sad

He left you with his love, affection is an art

You’ll never forget him… your uncle with a heart…
