Hi everyone, This section of the forum is a little different to the others, as you may have noticed in looking around the threads. Elsewhere on the forums, we discuss some pretty heavy topics: mental health issues, thoughts of suicide, trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns. Here is the place to come to get away from that and have a bit of fun. Distraction can be an important tool to draw on if you're finding yourself overwhelmed by distressing thoughts and feelings. As this is a section for respite from difficult topics, we will remove posts made in this section that attempt to discuss personal issues. Please use a support thread in the appropriate section for these discussions. Happy posting!

I lived in Thailand beforeAnd I really didnt like the foodMost people rave about Thai food and I understand because it does smell goodCrazy huh.In Thailand most foods centre around chicken and pork and seafood and beef not so much. But an interesting thing I noted about Thai men was their politeness and eagerness to helpBut also thai people are shy to talk because if they cant speak English they feel embarrassed Im the one who should feel embarrassed I would get my interpreter to say to them.Thailand is what they call a developing country but in my time there I saw a country so far advanced in areas than Australia is I became unwell and was seeing a pyschiatrist straight away no wait time. The community spirit there is superior to here and it rare to hear a car beep a horn because everyone on road is courtesy minded.I have heard of Australians shiver at the mention of going to a dentist in South eastern countries Their hygiene professionalism the whole dentist experience is on par if not better than here in Aus and fraction of price. The money saved on dental work is enough to have a holiday while you are thereI have so much respect for thai people. Anyway just some light conversationIf anybody wants to know anything about medical in Thai you can talk on here from my experience.

I hope someone who needs to read this takes something from it. I am someone who occasionally goes through a dark patch. My only saving grace is a good support network which not everyone is lucky enough to have access to. This forum seems like a great place for people feeling a little bit lost. I find for myself on days when it feels like nothing is good. I challenge myself to find one small thing or “thin sliver of joy” which stood out as a good thing. This might be something as small as enjoying a sip of a good coffee, receiving a text from a friend, a you tube video which caused you to smile even though you don’t feel like smiling. My brother and I both fight the black dog on occasion and he has taken to asking me about my own thin slice of joy for the day when he senses I’m not doing too well which forces me to concentrate on finding one tiny aspect which broke through. If you can contribute to being someone’s thin slice of sunshine it might be exactly what you both need to make it through the day.

I'm a fan of the little game threads we have on here, so I'd like to start one myself. I've always been fascinated by language and I love reading and writing. I also love expanding my vocabulary with words I've never heard of, so I'd like everyone to share one of their favourite words! It could be a long word, an old word, an interesting word... just a word that you've heard that you like, and its meaning. I'll start with the word INDIGNANT, which is essentially used to describe a feeling or display of frustration towards perceived mistreatment and injustice. It's similar to "disgruntled" or "discontent", but with the added element of motivation for changing unfair treatment. For example, an indignant letter can be written to HR, or a child can become indignant if they're asked to do chores. What's your word?

Hi,So this is my first time looking at doing volunteer work. I'm mainly looking at doing it because I've done no work for almost 2 years due to health reasons and need to do something to help get back into it. My question is, when I apply for these volunteer roles is it similar to applying for normal jobs where I need to apply for lots of different jobs just to get a job? Or should I only need to apply for 1-2 roles just to get something?I'm mainly looking for admin/customer service roles but I'm open to anything. Thanks.

Hope this is the right place for this post. Lately I've noticed reading the news and social media increases my anxiety, so I've made the conscious decision to not really read either of them. News is a funny one, because I like being up to date but it always bad news or something overly sensationalised. I gave "good news" websites a go but didn't find it overly interesting. Now my struggle is filling in my downtime. I'm playing a lot of mindless mobile games and that's about it. So, wondering what others do?
