Lately I have wished there was a magic switch to turn off my anxiety. It's just so hard to deal with. Does anyone else feel like this?

Definitely. When I have a flare up (like now) I feel like my life is always going to be difficult and I will never be happy because I have to drag this dead weight called anxiety around everywhere.

I have strategies that I use that help some of the time, and life feels a bit more bearable then.

Hope that you are able to go through a 'good patch' soon.

I scream at mine in my head and it goes away.

I've read if you talk to 'it', confront 'it' ask it what it wants and ask yourself if the overthinking is helping then it should help alleviate it. I like the syringe idea, drawing out the poison.

im over it too.

Hi booklover17,

I've been really at the moment. I go to bed overnight hoping one day it will be gone 😞 It holds me back in life greatly.

Hi Booklover17

I started having bad anxiety when I was 23 and it took me a long time to understand that the earlier its treated the better our recovery from this awful set of symptoms....I hear you loud and clear..

Hi everyone

If only a pill would take it away perminately. I have GAD and it sucks. Was diagnosed at at 22 however looking back and giving the dr a general history he believes I have had anxiety since childhood (remember having weird anxious rituals and being unable to sleep due to fear of wetting the bed). Although I have a pretty good grip of it now and can manage it I wish I could live a life without it. I think that almost every day

I’m so over my anxiety. It stops me from being able to cope with life’s simple ups and downs. I’m sick of the nausea that comes with it and the racing thoughts. Nice to know I’m not alone

Dear Booklover17, it is so debilitating this Anxiety creature... Do you have a support network (partner, a friend, or family member) that you can talk to. Your definitely not alone, I have recently checked back in with a psychologist (10 free visits with a referral from your GP), and if you have a Gp you feel comfortable with they can be a great source of comfort. Are you taking any medication for your anxiety? I am new to this forum but I am finding so helpful and comforting for those moments when you feel like it's getting the better of you.....Stay strong....by the way your thread name is obviously an indication that you are a reader do you have any reading recommendations i would like something that's light hearted no violence kind of read - should I be looking for fiction or non fiction 😊

Hi Rhinoceros,

Yes, the mornings are the worst for me. I quite frequently have an overwhelming feeling of dread but it usually goes away later in the day when I am busier. Hope you ended up feeling better too!!
