Hi all,
My name is Serena and I am 28 years old. I have suffered from depression and anxiety my whole life but lately it seems to be getting worse. I don't know what to do. All I do is sleep all day, make excuses not to go into work, and withdraw from every body. I am at a loss. I'm starting to struggle with studying, even though I have a great first semester. I am at a loss on what to do. I feel like I don't know who I am anymore. I want to get rid of these nasty habits that hurt me.

Hi Serena,
Welcome to the forums and thank you for reaching out to us.
I am sorry to hear how low you are feeling, I know how hard it is to pull yourself out of the black hole.
It sounds like you have been spiralling lately, has something happened in the past few months that has been the catalyst? Are you getting any help from family, friends or counselling? It also sounds like you are quite busy trying to juggle working and studying. Have you been taking care of yourself with good food?
I know with me, withdrawing happens when I feel overwhelmed and I have stretched myself too thin. Could this also be the case for you?
I would like to support you but it would be helpful to have a little more information to go on if you are comfortable expanding a bit. You are not alone, many here have been through exactly what you have described.
Take care,
indigo

Hi Serena,
Welcome, sorry to hear about your challenges but you have come to the right place. Hope you are feeling better.
Feeling disconnected is not a great way to live and especially if you no longer recognize who you are, you won't be able to connect with others in a healthy way. As you have mentioned, huge amount of stress and anxiety maybe triggering this feeling. Although this feeling can drain you out, there is always hope and it will get better.
If I may ask, you mentioned it is getting worse lately, is there something that has happened in your personal or professional life that's making you feel this way? Would you like to share and talk about it?
Maybe since you are working and studying, you are exhausted and need some time out.
Avoiding social contact is a very common pattern with anxiety and depression. If you have any friends or family, please try and reconnect with them if they are supportive.
Everyone has hard days, so please don't be tough on yourself. If you feel like you are falling into any of the anxiety/depression traps, please speak to your GP and seek professional help (if you haven't already done so).
We are all here to listen and support if you feel like opening up more.
Take care...
Happylife
