So today 27th April is my 56th birthday and my second in my whole life alone. No family or friends just me and my dog. It’s so hard not having anyone to even wish me happy birthday or give me a card or anything. I think this will be my last, the pain of being alone and lonely on what used to be a special day is just to much.

Hi Rosebud,
Happy Birthday to you.
I too am 56 and I can’t remember having birthdays, except when I was about 9 as I actually have photos and I short film which I had transferred to a DVD.
Honey, I have had birthdays alone with my dog too. At least she loved me. I bought her for myself for my 40th birthday. I lost her in 2020 and I feel that I am finally ready to get a new fur baby.
I have 3 adult children all in their 20’s now. Only my middle child lives with me but he has no idea when my birthday is. My daughter lives overseas and she is the only person who at least wishes me a happy birthday and if I am lucky I sometimes get flowers from her.
I honestly stopped feeling anything about my own birthday and I too dread it. Sometimes I even forgot my birthday until I looked at the calendar and it dawned on me that my birthday passed by as just another day. Occasionally my sons would send me a message a day after as a belated birthday wishes.
I was always the one organising and remembering everyone else’s birthdays. I always send my children messages reminding them when their dad’s birthday is and he feels so special that the children remembered him. How sweet! I even ordered cake for him and pretended it was from the kids. When we had 2 dogs, my daughter would even remember the dog’s birthdays.
Honestly, when I still had my dog, I felt that the love I received from her felt so much better and genuine and special.
Don’t give up and tomorrow go out and get yourself a special treat for your birthday for yourself.
Take care of yourself and please keep in touch here. Fiatlux 🙏🏼🫶

Hi Rosebud, I only just signed up today and your post caught my attention. Wishing you a belated happy birthday. I know what it's like to go through things alone. Reaching out is a huge step and you are not as alone as you feel right now. Having this place as a community I'm hoping will be the uplift we all need to reach out and find like minded people. I hope the last two weeks have picked up for you.

Hi Rosebud. It’s well past your birthday now, but I hope you are feeling a little better. I know what it’s like to only have a dog to live with and for. Please dont let it be your last birthday. At least we know we are the entire world to our loyal furry friends. Your dog needs you and adores you with all its little soul. And I hope that is enough to keep you going as it is for me. 69. Retired. No children or close family. Some nice friends, but they have full lives of their own. We may be lonely but Thank goodness we have the kind of hearts that can take care of another creature and want to make them as happy and safe as we can. You are a kind, loving and responsible person. Good luck to you.
