Do you have a happy place? A place where you can exhale, and feel okay, if just for a moment?
Is it your backyard, or a shed you work in? Is it at the gym? Do u breathe a sigh of relief when you close the door to your therapists office, knowing you can talk about ur life without inhibition?
When I was 22 I became a gym-junkie. I went to a gym that was mostly older people and wasn't about body-pride but was truly about being fit and strong. I used to love going there, zoning out, and reading magazines or watching music videos on the gym tvs. I think it was important to have a phsyical place that I felt welcomed and okay. The gym trainers all knew me and told me I was doing great at my regimen... it was a warm place to go and I went often. It was safe.
What's ur fave happy space?

hi Mark i didn't get to be much in nature as a kid
we had a garden which i liked until we moved... it was great for playing with waterpistols with my friends... i think i liked the tall trees in it. I've always liked looking up at trees. Just the contrast against the sky. It gives me hope.

I always feel safe at a beach though I haven't gone to one in a while 😞 The smell of sea water reminds me of times we spent at the beach in my childhood (grew up in an island so sea was always close)
Also the ocean doesn't care about my flaws or my lack of direction in life which I find comforting...

Hi all,
Hey sleepy and Tay, that exchange reminded me about a thing I used to do a lot- making a white light of protection...Now I sorta imagine it as a golden ball, and I draw it around myself, visualise it, when I feel either unsafe, or if I need energetic protection from someone or something. It takes a bit at first, but once you're used to it, it can be done really quickly. The main time I'd do it was when I was doing a healing, or had just had one, and was feeling vulnerable. But I reckon it would also be good for not feeling safe, at home or wherever.
I just googled it and there's a few on utube, by the looks.
Hope thats not too far out for you guys.
Cheers,
J*

sounds like u are connected to it. maybe safety = connection? feeling connected or personally in love a bit with a place or person or environment....

hi mark
that's beautiful to have a space where you can go to be separate from others and get some space
my family also bullied me a lot but my room was a safe space
they didn't really go in there and i used to store and organise all my things meticulously
marie kondo wrote in her book about when she was younger feeling isolated and oppressed by her family, and how she learnt that a space can be supportive, can make u feel okay. It was my favourite part of the book, at thee end, where she talked about her early struggles that led her to need her own clear space to feel okay.
I felt like that too. when i was younger cleaning and tidying helped me feel safe.
