We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

Ooohh! I want to be a shiny lovely people! Thanks Sleepy for bringing a smile to my face!

Today I walked the dog AND drew a picture with my daughter at the same time. We took our sketch books into the bush and both drew trees.( I like trees)

Cooked a nice dinner with my H- garlic prawns!

Watched a funny girls movie on netflix after late lunch and work. Had a laugh.

Cheers,

HOLIDAY NETFLIX LIST:

* Wine Country - full of kitchy sitchy witchy chicks - got it.

Review coming later lol.

J* is Sleepy says we're shiny lovely ppl then all together LOOK how BRIGHT we shine!
Nice one Sleeps.

WHAT??? are you serious Sleepy? BAKING BREAD NOW?

You Champion you! And gifting and washing, Lordy me, no stopping you now! hahaha.

I have LOVED some of the Chef specials on Netflix BUT I have realised that unless I've already eaten a pretty fancy meal before watching it, I feel cheated lol.

J* you and T sharing some bush Art?
Awww how splendiforous and lovely!

I went a bit "wild" on my grocery shopping today lol. Bought Pancetta to wrap slices of chicken breast in. Stuff to make Sang Choy Bow our family's style. Will make Nigiri again because it was a hit last time.
You know, went a bit wild (for me lol).

I've got nearly 4 dozen eggs to give away now. Will be able to transfer with my PERMIT to Alexa's neighbour this week. They're all gluten free so she bakes her own bread with eggs. Usually our eggs lol.

My friend I do Sunday walks with may like a dozen this week... I usually give her half dozen but I can UP it tomorrow.

My self-care:

~ nope didn't stay in my PJs. P.son needed some stuff so we made a trip to the shops. So one is that I bought lovely gourmet food to cook some lovely meals for my family this week.

~ spoke with my BF. He's lovely.
(It got a bit annoying saying "yeah but I can't do that because we're in lock down" on repeat!)

~ spent some time in the garden with poodle.
Gosh he's cheeky, he escaped through the toothless fence BUT he came back of his own accord for the first time. Good boy.

~ IDK what else I'll do today for self-care but it already feels WONDERFUL actually having a Saturday with no work for the first time in 6 weeks. Got some sweet "have a great break and we'll miss you" texts from Colleagues which was special. Normally no one would nothing lol.

Hi everyone!,

Hey Sleepy, you and I like the same kind of movies! How awesome! Tell me any others you've loved so I can check them out. Em you would soo love Wine Country!

How's everyone else doing?

I've had a pretty relaxing day- there's something about being in LD and having nowhere to go that puts me at ease....altho I was twitchy earlier in the week.

*Rang my old friend and we talked deeply for awhile. So good to get that hit from someone who knows me well.

*Did some sewing.

*Enjoyed family movie night with my d, watching A Little Princess...again! It's a bit of a fave with us. "Every girl is a princess!" Awww!

Cheers,

J*

Hello Ladies. My self care for Saturday was I had a good sleep, stayed in my jammies all day very relaxing. For dinner i had prepared plate of boiled baby potates with grated cheese, veggies and one tin of sardines in springwater. Simple to make yet so nutritious. I really love those easy to make healthy meals. Still can eat so well on a low budget. Lots of water and my cups of tea is a must regards

Hey J*!

Sounds wonderful lol. A Little Princess has been an absolute fave of our family's female population too lol.

Well I DID watch Wine Country and tbh it reminded me of being around the friends I still have now. We're all spread all over Oz but since we've had "School Reunions" each year for a very long time. First one was only 5y after the 16yo's left school, so only 3y after WE left school. Then every 5y. Now each year.

I'm going to suggest we do ours via Zoom this year.

We're not in a "friend's group" per se... just each connected (or not) in our own ways, so no pernickitness lol! If that's a word! I spoke to one yesterday and another today. A different one last week.

About to text a link to one in Qld who wants to do the whole "Sustainability" lifestyle; build off grid etc, yet has no idea how to grow food.

After watching Wine Country, I watched snippets of Virgin River but fast forwarded past so much lol.

Just having Sustainability YouTubers keeping me company today 🙂

LOVE U.

Hey Ezzi! NICE!

Indeed we CAN live on less amounts of food when it's of greater nutritional value!
Sounds like great self-care to me!

If you want to join in the BB Gardening Thread, we'd live to see you there. Otherwise I'll just go on and on about it all here lol.

LOVE HAVING YOU!

My self-care today:

~ slept in till 8am, NICE!

~ began next level cleaning the kitchen.

~ wanted to ditch on my walk with R today but she ditched instead so that was serendipitous! haha. So that's self-care for each of us.

~ sorted lots of things in my laundry. We try to live as sustainably as possible, so I have all these "systems". The huge 11L bucket I was using to collect lint, feathers, straw, hair and all sorts from there, was too big and annoying me. I used a see through bucket with a lid to replace it, which fits on the shelf perfectly (we compost the contents).
Next level cleaning required in there too! but kitchen first.

Feeling about 90% come down from work stress, so I'm happy about that lol.

I'm really thinking left field alternative atm and considering a few new ideas which is exciting for me lol. (My kids are like "is there ANY THING else we can do mama!?" ah yes there is!

Happy days!
ONWARDS and UPWARDS everyone!

Love EM

Hello All. My self care for today i didn't answer any phone calls whilst listening to upbuilding, postive, refreshing talks that soothes weary soul to keep moving forward.

Good ones Ezzi. Well done you. I think it's so true what they all say about looking after oneself FIRST so we can be okay and possibly support others, do you think?

I call that "Oxygen mask on self first" like in aeroplane safety talks.

I realised that my last 3 calls with old friends has been 100% about their stressors.
It's difficult NOT to compare my stressors with theirs, but I can't.
I can't pinpoint why exactly I'm doing far better than them atm, I really can't.
I think 2 are going through major grief - one through 3 recent losses, another through many losses over her lifetime she pushed aside, it's all bubbling up now.

I'm pretty sure I processed grief deeply WHEN it occurred and allowed myself any crying etc any time over those losses. It's been happening since I was very little, so maybe I had a grieving routine? Sounds dreadful, but maybe I did.
Plus Faith ofcourse. I'm sure that helps alot.

Well my FANCY SELF-CARE last night was doing something I've been dreaming of for YEARS lol... yeah years!

~ I ordered my absolute fave bottle of Vitamin C skin care from the Body Shop (so funny having an American BF because he'd ask WHY did you order car parts without me baby? hahaha)...

~ in fact I bought THREE bottles of it,

~ also a Himalayan mud scrub and a few other bits like that.

I've found Registering in an online shop really triggering. It was a bit convoluted to do but I just thought, heck I'm spending so much money on EVERY THING else, everyone else in my family, our house, even the Chooks!
I need to buy things that make me feel good too. Not everything lol, just SOME things.

So I did and I'm really excited for it to come too.
