We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hey Bies, wow welcome to the forums.
It was warming to see you say you felt comfort by reading others on the forums.
That's a good sign you're in the right place!
Such a compliment when someone posts their FIRST EVER POST in the self-care thread.
I hope you feel supported to share on the forums.

Well hey everyone, I can't respond to all the members who've shared their self-care but I am so impressed to read so many wonderful things you're doing for yourself.
These are strong reminders to me that gentle things we do for ourselves are KIND. To us.
I have a cuppa too quirky lol, thanks for coming back in.
My Counsellor and I had our last appt for maybe over 6 months last week.
After I shared what I'll do INSTEAD of having our weekly (lately) appts, I asked if she had any advice for me as I deal with life without her for a while.
She said "be kind to yourself".
I'm not. I try to be and I'm still not.
But I am being kind to myself right now.
I stopped work (yeah another weekend spent on work), can hear email chiming in and am determined NOT to look at it again tonight.
Then I argue with myself.... well if I check it AFTER midnight then technically it's TOMORROW and a work day lol...
no it's not funny.
I think I'm a workaholic. Pretty sure I am.
So sadly, with any substance abuse issues / addiction... to something I need to do... maybe refreshing The 12 Steps could help.
My self-care today:
* I had a meal
* I really allowed my self to open up to hear what my friend had to say about a weird situation I'm in with work which we uncovered is more about my personal life than work. It was revealing and gave clarity.
* I went for a walk with same friend, thankfully she knows ALL the rules about doing so during lock down.
And so our lock down goes on. Harder clamping down. Crazier things going on with ppl.
And my focus is on being kind to myself.

Both sleepy and EM couldn't have said it any othet way to make me feel better. Yah !! My self care for today was a good snooze, brunch/ beakky lunch and dinner three meals in one leftovers of whatever was left in the pantry. Was Yummy. Listening to some wonderful calming happy music. Lovely meeting you all. Many good things areas on the forums. Pick and choose according to my needs depending on my mood flucuatuons. For the moment let's keep it a very positive thread without bringing in all the doom and gloom that surrounds each of us daily. 🙂

Hi everyone 🙂
Welcome to new posters!! This is a safe space, and it's ok to be not ok. I think the beautiful thing about this thread is how we can find things which we did for US, be it for our mental, emotional or physical well being. It's nice to be positive, but we all know life isn't all roses and sunshine. But here, it's like my challenge to find the spin on my day, and find the things I did which gave me a bit of as lift. Thanks Em for the great thread btw!
My self care, hmm,
*Spent time on BB
*Bought some more seeds and cow manure and a cute garden table (my gardens getting heaps of love! And it gives it all straight back!)
*Walked the dog. Enjoying the trees and the quiet, and feeling warm from the exercise.
* Talked to my friend, who is missing me. That was nice.
Cheers,
J*

Hello dear quirky and Dools and J* and Sleepy, lovely to read your self-care. So nice to have the company of our BB self-care sweethearts lol.
SO nice to have you come back in here dear Ezzi. Your self-care is delightful and you join the pack of sweethearts too lol.
My self-care well, is it SELF care or otherwise, IDK:
~ am taking Leave next week to help my daughter after surgery and supervise some of the rest of one son's HSC Trial exams.
It's the "taking Leave" that's self-care, but I guess when I care for others I love, it feels like self-care to me.
~ got all warm and snuggly in my PJs at 5pm, so comfortable! Might just stay in them ALL day long and even do gardening in my PJs tomorrow lol.
~ made a CHOICE about something to watch on Netflix - The Minimalists: Less is Now.
I like the 30 day challenge - getting rid of one unnecessary thing each day for 30 days. I'm pretty sure I already do this lol. Not sure WHERE I can donate clothing etc during lock down but I'll store it in the garage for "later" when I know.
I like the part that "everything we own adds real value to our lives" it either serves a PURPOSE or brings me JOY. Like it!
Love EMxxxx
