We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

Hi all,

It's been busy on here, I'm afraid my self-care this time has to include not trying to keep up, I'm just not up to it. Glad you guys are all looking after yourselves and supporting each other though.

Mine for recent days:

- Lots of snuggle time with my birds.

- Watching movies with my partner when we get an opportunity. Good to sidestep the usual YouTube shows we watch during breakfast (and in times of little mental energy, which is most of the time) and be in a different space.

- Made a little flap to cover the clock in my car. I'm so much more relaxed without that insanely bright little clock constantly demanding my attention, amazing the difference a little bit of gaffer tape has made.

Hi all,

Blues I get that SC about the clock. The sound of a ticking clock drives me mental! And I hate my H's bedside alarm clock....who cares what time it is unless it's time to get up!! So much easier to be in the present when not watching a clock.

Today my self care is...yet to be decided.

Recovering after first week at back at work, taking it easy. I might go back to bed!

Lovely to read what everyone's doing to show care for self, just reading it makes me feel warmer...

Cheers,

J*

Hi all,

So my day ended up being a bit more adventurous than I thought I could cope with. Money in the bank lured me to the nearest city, and my T and I shared yummy japanese lunch, followed by a foot and leg reflexology massage....she's only ten, and has trouble with pains in her legs and knees, and I'm in pain after work, so it was bliss for both of us. Extra special to share it! I looked over at her a couple times and her eyes were closed, blissing out. The young girl massaging her just smiled delightfully 🙂

Gona have a cuppa and toast for dinner now, don't need anything else!

Cheers

Hey Shelll, so glad I made you smile. What a beautiful smile it is!!

Indeed coming on to the forums is self-care! So is colour matching clothes, how wonderful! xxxx

Hey Blue, CLOCKS yeah, well done you! I took my watch off around 40y ago and never worse one again. Drive me crazy also.. lol.
You have everyone's permission as well as yours to DO whatever you need and want to do.
More power to you dear friend. xxxx

Hey PF, magnificent as always, what's left to say but thankyou! xxxx

Hey J*, girly time - awesome! Taking a well deserved break with your cutie pie T is a treat in itself. xxxx

Well things are getting real heavy in my life atm... more need for self-care, may as well make it radical!

Yesterday / today I:

~ blissed out with the housework and listened to a YouTuber teaching Arabic! LOVED it, sweated like a banshee, practicing Arabic lol! Learnt all about Ramadan at the same time and that was GORGEOUS.

~ had my nails re-done... Fancy Lollipop PINK! hahaha... was gonna go more "corporate" for work on Monday but wanted to take the "Secret Treasure" option of just have FUN (see Brene Brown) so I did lol... omg I think they glow in the dark too... how funny.

~ ate chocolate, just a few tiny Easter eggs but sweet. Don't worry I bought $3 Choc Bavarian desserts for today's family dinner so THAT will make up for under eating chocolate lol.

~ made amends with my BF, he's very understanding of the pressure I'm under atm.

~ limited my time on BB but still checking in for my daily doses whenever I can.

~ scheduled "must do" things on my to do list with deadlines. This is self-care for me, it helps space things out which means I can schedule TIME OUT in.

I/m about to pick up p.son from the train station with my grandchildren. They are SO EXCITED!
Not half as much as I AM lol.

CAN'T WAIT to see him.

Love EM

Hi all,

J*, I find the ticking of a clock kinda soothing sometimes, it's knowing what the time is that's the problem for me. It's not always helpful to know. EM, I had to stop wearing one when I was in a fresh dept. at work. Never bothered replacing it, don't miss it. Oh, love the nails. Hi Shelll.

More intermittent, struggling efforts from me, but still trying:

- Made blueberry muffins (had a craving for muffins ever since auto-correct changed something I was typing to "muffin" - its dastardly plan worked).

- Had a long sleep with my birds. Still feel tired as heck, but hey, I tried. Birds are happy, that's a win.

- Short forest walk after work. I was stumbling about like a zombie and didn't get a lot out of it, but again, I bloody tried.

Blue.

hey J - sounds like such a nice day wth T... gotta love seeing her so happy - really beautiful!!

Hi Shelll - drinking water is great , you feel better so quickly !

loving the muffin-making Blue. fun and so nice to have baked stuff fresh from the oven

today i -

ate some fresh veg

bought some warm leggings

listened to golden oldie tunes browsing in the op shop - the sweet sounds of Obvious Child by Paul Simon. I heard it first in a movie with the same name, a guy and girl get together and go home together at a bar, and then they dance around to it in their underwear. it's a sweet moment because the song is so fun!

Hi all,

Thanks, Sleepy, the muffins are good. Your mention of leggings reminds me, I want to get some good thermal underthings this year, it's already getting pretty cold.

So, holding myself accountable, I am back to remind myself to do the self care things, and to recognise them for what they are:

- Stayed up a bit to play a video game. Gonna be too knackered to enjoy anything on a work day anyway, might as well have some fun before that.

- Managed to meditate, finally. There have been more disruptions than usual, lately. I've an idea to include it in my forest visits after work in future, where no-one is being loud or seeking my attention.

- Obligatory morning snuggle with birds. Good for them, good for me, everyone wins.

Blue.
