We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

three self care things

Still having hair removal issues/ motivation

went to a clothes shop and got a shirt

put the air conditioner on at 2pm instead of being cheap/ also put my dog in it's pajama's cause the aircon makes it cold and now it sleeps beside me making little snout noises and I feel Buble' good.

Hi all,

Welcome Rynn. Not_Batman, impressed you made a guitar. Go you! And decluttering, too (you bet I approve, that's my area of expertise, haha). Thanks J*, glad to help. EM, that dentist fiasco sounds horrid, you did really well.

Tayla, you mentioned trouble with bullying. I'd like to remind you that bullying is always about the person doing it, not the person it's being done to. If they hate anyone, it's themselves, they want to make someone else feel small and hurt. Next time someone is unkind to you, I'd like you to stop and remember that it isn't about you or anything you've done. It just isn't. It isn't worth being hurt by them, if you have to feel something, make it pity that they don't even know they're so misguided and small. Also, great work with the colouring. My trick for staying in the lines is go slowly around the edges, following the lines closely, before doing the inner areas.

Okay, on to my stuff. Struggling a bit with it this week, but trying.

- Massively long sleep today, was super burnt out from work.

- Asked my partner for help with some jobs (work in progress there, I am still internally very resistant to asking for help).

- Left off on cooking proper food (partner will help with that later) and made the chocolate cheesecake brownies I really wanted to make.

Blue.

Today's self care things:

1) Taking a shower after a long day - that's the best feeling!

2) Condensed milk coffee this time!

3) A little bit of shopping is my favourite self-care (just a little bit!)

Thanks Blues, it's just hard to think that way when I've been bullied so much. It shouldn't happen to anybody.

Hey everyone, what a beautiful array of self-care up here now!

SO many ideas to draw from, nice ones peeps.

Welcome Rynn to our wonderful caring self-care group! I totally agree we can get caught up in working all day long, great idea to stop and do a bit of self-care.

Mine for today:

* travelled to visit a young old friend lol. I met her as a child thru my work c25y ago. I met her 4th baby and he began saying my name within a few minutes! Too cute for words. I brought a yummy lunch and we all ate together. It was beautiful.

* put my car in for a service and an early Rego check before I start back at work next week. Rego isn't due for a month but I know it helps reduce my anxiety when I do things like this ahead of time, so I schedule them IN ahead of time lol.
Plus I got to use the mechanic's loan car for the long trip, runs on the smell of an oily rag that zippy little motor lol. Not like my beast.

* spoke with my fiancee and he doesn't seem to have Covid but needs to do the test anyway. We had a scare this week as he became ill after being in Los Angeles helping there. We're coping with the separation as best we can, just being kind and understanding with each other.

* bought Vietnamese for dinner at the shopping centre, saved me making dinner for us all after a long day!

* might have a nap before I do the midnight kids pick up from work tonight.

oh and I just saw a Seahawk enjoying the breeze, soaring over the water in front of our home.
A peaceful sight.

Love EM

Hi all,

Good point you make there Blue, about the way ppl treat us is more about themselves. However sometimes we can make ourselves an easy target. I still don't get it, but it does seem like you can't be too nice to some ppl, they just don't respect it.

Tay I think I remember reading somewhere that not colouring in the lines is really good, from a creative viewpoint. It means you may not follow the rules, you think creatively, and behave in an unconventional manner. So! It's a great thing! Let those lines go hang!

My self care for today was to let myself have a big ol' cry. I was resisting it, cos I think, I've cried enough about this, but, turns out I haven't really. So I let myself cry, and then visited the nursery and bought myself a plant. Which is def self care for me.

I also bought my kid an icecream, which is sharing the caring around!

Also walked my dog on the beach, which he loves.

Small wolf I'm reading Dare to lead- snap! She's pretty awesome hey!

And Rynn, I kinda have this deal going with myself that if I do housework in the morning then I def get to do something fun in the afternoon. Cooking at least, or gardening, but pref sewing. And fun sewing, not like chore sewing. Do you have a hobby you like doing?

Cheers,

J*

My self-care has gone wanting somewhat due to looking after our darling chicken but thankyou all for mentioning what you're doing... it helps me alot and I'm sure helps others here too.

* I've had lots of tears over darling chicken today, everyone who comes near our house will be asking where she is, maybe for years. I can tell them she had a miraculously long and healthy life till nearly the end. We've loved her well.

* spent time in the garden with chicken on my chest.

* watched a series I like on ABC iView.

* made brunch.

* will try to have some fruit tonight. Maybe a mango and some watermelon.

Hi EM and all,

EM - I am having mango and watermelon for dinner too. Seriously, when I read this in your post I had to reply lol. I hope you enjoy it. I find it is refreshing and yum...so yes, definitely self-care there.

So for me:

1) Getting support and advice from the beautiful ppl on these forums

2) Listening to music

3) Mango and watermelon for dinner

Hi again everyone,

Looks like I missed a couple of pages of this thread... when you don't check for a few days and there are so many posts in this busy thread - I get lost in it all. So sorry I have not meant to ignore -

EM - no, I don't think I have heard of ABC?? I will have to google it. Thanks as always x

J* - wow, you wrote such a kind post to me a while back that I haven't even read til now and so not acknowledged. Sorry. & Everything you wrote - straight back at ya and then some more. I love reading your posts too. I read on the gardening thread of you getting yourself some fresh corn on the side of the road - well that could come under this thread of self care too hey x

Blues - thanks for all you help me with and your straight-up style which whenever I read makes so much sense, just gotta keep reading your posts for reinforcement x

Not Batman - I hope you are okay and keeping up your self care/mowing and the like. I read somewhere you had a rough couple of days. We are here for you - you are super 🙂

I also welcome Rynn - your self care sounds perfect to me 🙂

& Everyone - I don't want to keep listing ppl in case I leave anyone off accidently - but every single post I have appreciated and am getting ideas from - so thanks all

ps Tay - Blues makes an excellent point re bullying. From my experience it is better to walk away and reclaim your power/ empower yourself, rather than feeling you are a victim. It is not you - it is them. You have this forum 🙂 and btw very cute pic
