We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes

while I did/do like Iron Chef the channel is called SortedFood - 5 guys in the UK (2 chefs, and 3 normals, at least that is how they refer to themselves). See you at the end of the day.

Can someone please give me some self care ideas? I struggle with it, aswell as eating healthy & having a routine & diet. I've tried before but it's difficult for me. No judgement please.

@mb20lover -

If I get stuck I use Google and search for things like

  • self care ideas
  • unusual self care ideas
  • self care during lockdown

and see what pops up. You can also see lists and other ideas in the images section in the search results. Watching a movie, sleeping with extra pillow, listening to a podcast, dancing, flower arranging etc. It is something you can do and enjoy for and by yourself? It could even be talking with a friend.

No judgement at all MB20!

Thanks smallwolf & Not_Batman.

You can call me Tayla by the way, that's my name. I'll look those up later.

Hi alll - a question they sometimes ask over helplines etc

How can you look after yourself today?

Sometimes answering that helps me think of what I can do for self-care.

Hey Tayla, I'm so glad you're coming back to ask questions. No judgement sweety girl, just hugs. HUGS!

Please remember you don't have to do everything at once.

Also remember the reason I started this thread is because I found it near impossible to "do self-care" and still do, every single day.
I thought if we supported each other by recognising self-care things we DID do then maybe we'll all get better at it.

We have.
Asking questions is GREAT self-care Tayla.

The things you mention in your post above seem to hint at the areas you'd like to give more self-care attention to.... if I'm wrong then ignore this lol...
3 areas:
- general 'self-care'
- eating healthy food (that covers your diet too)
- routine.

I'll just throw out 3 suggestions, you can take these as they are, change them up, throw them out lol... TRY one or all.

1. self-care - look in the mirror and wash your face with a washer and put moisturiser on.

2. healthy food - choose a piece of fruit you like to eat, buy some, peel / prepare one piece each day.

3. routine - decide what time of day you will do a daily activity eg your shower, your lunch, coming on to the forums and DO that then.

Rome wasn't built in a day and I think that's a good analogy for those of us who struggle with self-care.
Small gains turn into larger ones when we stick to them.

Hey Sleepy, Nice question you posted, "how could I look after myself today?"

Well that's a good question for tomorrow now...

Didn't do well at all today but I can find some self-care I DID do:

- got dressed, was in my PJs till 4pm but got dressed to do the following...

- organised my son's car removal, insurance refund. I was VERY uncomfortable dealing with that all and felt pretty sad also. But I'm trying to hold on to the freedom of not having his broken down car out there any more. So I tackled an uncomfortable situation.

- searched for Dr Levine's work online and watched some clips. I like them very much. Hope to watch more soon.

Keep on with it all everyone, loving your posts.

Hi sleepy, et al.

“how could I look after myself today?". Sounds like a simple question. I dont think i ever heard that one before with my psych. Funny how the answer can come from the simplest question.
