We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hi all
Blue I agree. Remembering to put music on is so great- good on you! It’s such a mood changer hey. I rarely get to do it at home as the noise space is usually being taken up, but Aretha Franklin has made an appearance lately during washing up - what a legend!
Today I bought myself a pair of Levi’s instead of only thinking about others.
I also bought T some new clothes that she loves- that almost feels like self care!
enjoying time away in the city, doing something different. The self care part was following thru with it despite opposition. Good to remember that I can meet my own needs. Instead of waiting for someone else to bring me flowers....
love this thread

Hi all,
Great to see this thread come back to life again, it's good to check in and think about the stuff we're doing for ourselves, and get ideas from each other. J*, good thing I stopped in here, I forgot about music again. Time to turn some on. Aretha Franklin is good.
Today:
- Had a really good conversation with my partner about how we can recognise and communicate our needs better, clarify our roles and what sort of support we each need, and how we can help each other more effectively to get that support. It was really productive.
- Revisited the idea of ordering ready made vegetarian meals. I've looked before and the options were seriously limited (as in, very few choices and lacking vital nutrients in most meals). Some more companies and options have sprung up since I last looked and may actually be viable this time (if a bit expensive, that's another hurdle to work on).
- Broadened my search for support as a carer.
Blue.

Bought and started to use a new face cream (I’m usually hopeless when it comes to skin care…)
Prepared a nice smoothie loaded with some goodies.
Cuddled with my kids.

Had a bit of a sad night the other night - my old habit of self-doubt crept in and I had a bit of a cry the other night. My partner was so sweet and just held me and listened to me. I am usually a very happy person but I know that sometimes I will have a low night and just have to remember that the next day is a new day. I am already starting to feel better. Yesterday was a big self-care day for me where I was just very gentle on myself and made sure to re-charge my batteries. Top three things I did were:
1) Stayed on the couch and watched Netflix and Disney Plus with my family! I barely moved but I was feeling happier spending quality time. I didn't push myself or be tough on myself for being 'lazy'.
2) Made my daily cacao drink! I think this has been a little self-care ritual that has been helping me
3) Cooked my family lunch! That was nice. I really like cooking I find it very relaxing and satisfying to have a yummy end product come out of it!
Rock on everyone - I love reading all your self-care posts and I can really see so much strength!

Sorry to hear you had a sad sad recently missep123, I agree though that it is okay for this to happen sometimes and its great you had someone to support you through it.
I've been a bit anxious myself lately, so trying to increase my self care. Today I have/will...
1. Done 10 minutes of diaphragmatic breathing
2. Went for a walk in the morning
3. Will go to a yoga class this evening

Hi all,
Great work everyone, recognising when you're struggling and taking steps to be kind to yourselves. Ol' Blue is starting to bounce back from being in a real bad place. Trying to remind myself to keep up the self care so I don't slip backward. Here's mine:
- Ordered those ready meals I was on about, even though I was a bit worried about the expense. The time and lessening of stress they have given us is invaluable.
- Went out with my partner to celebrate my work roster improving, and followed it up with some nature time.
- Made the decision to get a dishwasher (part 2 of domestic restructuring, after getting those meals). And decided on a date to get it done by, so it actually happens.
Blue.

I'm very low on energy today, thinking I may be getting sick 😞 So my self care was very gentle...
1. A took a nap
2. Deep breathing exercise
3. Small walk with the dog
Hope everyone is doing well

Proud of everyone for being gentle on themselves!
Yesterday I was unproductive but today I made sure to reinforce my self-care routine:
1) Matcha and cacao drinks - holding the mug in my hand and the process of making it is very comforting to me!
2) Watching Korean dramas
3) Taking a warm shower

Hi all,
Hope you're feeling a bit better, Banksy. Here's my stuff:
- Tackled a bunch of housework yesterday that was bothering me.
- Made some delicious oat and chia biscuits.
- Let myself have a pyjama day today. No jobs beyond making coffee and maybe a load of washing. After that, just Netflix or video games and getting into those biscuits I made.
