We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Dear topsy
I'm sure we ALL equate productivity to self-worth somewhere along that spectrum, it's our societal thing.
Not to be ashamed of. Please don't think you're thick, clearly you're not! You're a very clever, accomplished person and I barely know you lol.
Brene also talks about our Shame Forests. Everyone with the capacity for shame has one.
My self-care last night:
~ made a nice dinner
~ used my new facial scrub, didn't like it so much but I used it! hahaha.
~ went to bed early, enjoyed that my kids were getting a lift home last night. Nice when pay backs happen.
Enjoyed watching the sun rise this morning with all the beautiful colours of the sky.
Love EMxxxx

Hey Sophia16 welcome to the Self-care thread,
Netflix never looks as good as when assignments are due lol.
I had a friend once who said even the HOUSEWORK looked like fun when her assignments were due :-~~
Hope you had a restful day.
My self-care today:
~ went for a walk and played soccer in the park with some of my family, it was nice to see them lol, their dog made this "I love you" sound over and over again, she's missed us too!
~ got take away for an early dinner
~ had a long nap this afternoon.
Hope everyone's doing well
Love EMxxxx

douglas adams, author of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy a trilogy in 5 parts use to increasingly take increasingly long baths the closer a deadline approached.
Apparently he was very clean when handing in his works!

Hi everyone, what a lovely thread of helpful strategies for proactive self care.
I just wanted to drop a note to say a huge WELL DONE to everyone on here who is taking small but mighty steps to regulate their mental health, care for themselves and find joy in each day. It's certainly a little harder in the times we're living in so it's great to get inspiration from others and hold ourselves accountable.
For me today my self care was:
1. A guided mediation track
2. Went for a run
3. Digital detox - keeping off social media for the afternoon/evening!

Thanks Banksy and Welcome to this thread and the forums.
Yes it's difficult to maintain a positive outlook during hard times. Your "Digital Detox" made me chuckle lol, I went to a Seminar a few years ago about putting our kids on a Digital DIET hahaha... you can imagine how that went down at home.
I use my online time here as a Reward almost.
Nice self-care things everyone.
Today I -
~ spent short bursts in my garden throughout my 'working from home' day, that was nice and very welcome lol,
~ asked one of my sons for help this weekend, he said yes! Yay.
~ visited my Chiropractor. Gosh he's awesome, not only for adjustments but for well informed views and tips on all things "LIFE".
Overall the past few days I've given myself "a break" from constantly thinking "I have to do this..." and then "I have to do that ..." ie going with the flow alot more and doing tasks that I CHOOSE to do in the moment instead of creating a messy mind list all the time.
This comes after a funny conversation I had with a friend who said something like "our minds are the cause of our worst suffering"... of course I could disagree there LOL! But I got the gist and took the next steps for my self, my freedom and creating my own happiness.
Onwards and UPwards lovely self-caring peeps!
EMxxxx

Today I feel like I needed self-care, especially with a bit of a lock-down slump!
1) I made a nice home-made lunch. Nutritious and delicious. I feel relaxed when I can watch something on Netflix while I take my time cooking.
2) I will play my Switch (a staple in my self-care routine)
3) I may watch some anime with my partner which will make me feel nice and relaxed
Awesome work with your self-care everyone!

To get out of bed and take on the day, takes courage. I'm always in awe of people who probably jump higher hurdles than me every day.
Self care today: * some easy gardening * began a novel * did a 2 klm walk and took a small thermos of tea for halfway stop. Happy with myself for that!
One day at a time everyone. Every gentle and positive word I share with the world, helps heal me.
