We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes

Hi Jstar49!
The hair mask that I did was a mix of coconut oil and castor oil! Left it on for a little while and then shampood it really well. It really helps because the ends of my hair are so dry!
Today my self care:
1) I baked and made homemade garlic butter breadsticks with cheese and marinara sauce inside (was so yum! and my partner loved it)
2) Did all the uni work that I needed to do. Feels so satisfying!
3) I haven't done it yet but as soon as I am off the forums I'm going to clean my room and that will be really good self-care 🙂

We're getting our gorgeous bunch of BB self-carers together with SO much variety of self-care! Thanks peeps, it's all so helpful!
I'm feeling VERY spoilt right now, I'm listening to "Fur Elise" being played on the piano downstairs with a guitarist accompanying!
How beautiful... it's my youngest daughter Yvette's birthday party with her work friends! (Not her real name)... they were listening to Sweet Caroline and other 70s and 80s songs before lol.
"Teenagers these days hey?" they're amazing.
My self-care today:
* delegating a whole shopping list to the kids, they drove there, bought it all and unpacked it all too. I've never done this before, they've got the job! lol. (My atm card was back in my wallet afterwards too, WOW lol).
* did some gardening to pretty things up for the party.
* came on to the forums for some time out.
Feedback for self and others re the "radical self-care" prescribed to me as the ONLY thing I could do for Yvette, with no child SA Psychologist available to her etc and her being "at the edge" last year.... ME doing THIS worked for us.
Yvette is SOARING.
I'm in awe of her and ever so grateful. She's so precious.
Another thing I decided to do, was to "nip things in the bud".
So when I need to say something, in a critical time, I DO.
I might need to write things down and sort my thoughts.
I allow myself time out TO sort my thoughts and sometimes get some "rational" feedback from a trusted friend... but I DEAL.
My relationships with Prodigal son, Yvette, Alexa and even my BF are beautiful examples.
I was fearful.
I acknowledged my fears to them all and more importantly to myself.
We talked.
We got closer, they were able to open up more to me because I allowed myself to be vulnerable to them!
I dealt with bully at work.
I needed overnight to sort the STEPS I would take.
Went to work early.
CARRIED every step out.
1 supervisor told me not to.
I kept on.
I don't rely on others "moral compass", I rely on my OWN.
I'm not perfect, never aim to be.
I'm living my life on my own terms now.
Onwards and UPwards peeps!

Great ones peeps!
My self-care today:
* had a little sleep in
* did ALL the laundry, I knew of at least lol, got to use my new clothes drier! it's super efficient yay! (Aiming to change this schedule to earlier in weekend at night so I can do something I'd prefer to do during the day like going to the beach etc..)
* ate a healthy dinner
* had a nap.
Yeah I know I can't count lol.

Such amazing self-care!
Look at the wide range of it all... would love to soak my feet for a while amberlite lol.
My self-care today:
* had a short catch up with my boss after the bullying incident last week. She's awesome really but not very assertive with staff... tbc lol.
* took time at lunch time to call my BF, he arrived in Alaska safely yay! Sent me pics of LONG icicles hanging from the motel room lol. Then we spoke again after work too. He's travelling to a remote mine tomorrow and we may not have communication for a few days (he gets a bit anxious over all this stuff).
* had a wonderful long nap as all the kids were called in to work tonight!
* booked an appt at a NEW Dentist, fortunately they're open all weekend, wow! Probably need an earlier appt than 3 weeks, will see how I go.
* booked an appt at a NEW Vet for rescue poodle, his ears are bothering him again. Yep that's self-care for me, I worry otherwise about our darling boy.
Forgot to mention that prodigal son came home on the weekend and it's been 6 weeks since we've seen him! He finally opened up about what happened down there, with a few tears.
His GF broke up with him (omg) and he moved so far away for her. He thought I'd be really angry with him over it all as every little thing I said would happen, happened.
But I Prayed I would be wrong.
I didn't get angry!
I was pretty sad it didn't work out.
I held space well with him, it was a precious time.
Anyway now he's got that off his chest, he wants to come home more lol. He plans on moving home at the end of the year. (Yes he's lost more weight ughhh).
SO in conclusion, sometimes giving our loved ones the time and space to share honestly and openly can help to build trust and repair relationships. It's not a cure all, but helped alot for p.son and all of us.
This is self-care too.
Love EM

Hi all,
Sleepy I LOVE libraries! I think there's something very peaceful and community- minded about them.
My self care today:
yoga session to stretch out the knots
Walked the dog thru the bush
Had lunch outside to enjoy the view
And now, planting seeds- something I haven't done since last spring. Feels good!
Cheers
