Social Media

What does everyone think of social media in terms of affecting your anxiety/depression/bipolar etc.? I have been told to cancel my social media pages because my husband told me that he notices I get overly anxious and depressed when I go on facebook. I've started to cut down now because I have noticed it too. It seems so trivial, but its almost taboo NOT to have facebook...you kind of become an outcast!! Thoughts? (Please bear in mind that I acknowledge this is trivial, but I was just interested to hear if anyone else is affected by social media like I am).

Cheers!

Hi steph, I believe it is an evil tool that the world would be better off without. In saying that I constantly check up on it which frustrates me at times. It can be dangerous to relationships aswell I believe .My first wife had an affair and left me for another man so I struggle a fair bit with anxiety over my current wife and any interaction with the opposite sex. She is a loyal caring woman but is obsessed with Facebook. She also gets to the point of anxiousness over people's perfect lives on it and tries to sweep it under the carpet which is not good for her. My big problem with it and her on it is times when I know she has searched up old friends who are male. As innocent as it may be, it sends my anxiety through the roof. I wish sometimes the whole network would collapse and make us all go back to basics when it comes to social interaction because it's all too easy these days.
