Hi,
Iโm on day 5 of my new life! Been struggling heaps with the emotional tears, insomnia, headaches, nausea, restlessness & frustration of resisting the temptation (as my husband is still smoking, but not in my presence & friends still drinking in front of me).
atm I am unemployed after 2sacking, (1 not my fault)for last 13wks. With no govt help itโs becoming very hard to survive financially & then I have been rejected for every job applied for, Iโm struggling to accept my medically ๐คฌ up body & brain & because Iโm trying to be a better human decided to go cold ๐ฆ!
I found night times are the worst as for the past 5yrs my routine was to have a drink and a bong from apx 6pm. Longest Iโve gone is 8 days without a drink and about 2 without dope. Found marijuana.org had some good info & then remembered my friend recommended BB.
The forum helped me survive another night Iโm now in bed with a ๐ having cuddles from the ๐ ๐ถ
Have counselling on Tuesday, so Iโll probably be back on here tomz. Thanks for the vent.
Hereโs to clean living!!!! Once all the yukkyness has gone ๐ฅต๐คฏ๐คฎ๐คข๐๐๐๐

Hi Emm, oh I know it's so tough giving up the alcohol, like all addictions they are wired into our brain so this circuit needs to be broken.
The big question I have always wondered is why are you OK 4 hours before it's time to drink, but when the time comes, you feel different and need to drink, maybe we have trained our mind to be like this.
You need to have a large tonic water, if you like it, half an hour before the time and something to eat, so once your tummy feels full the idea of drinking subsides, then half an hour later, that's when you feel better.
The time to drink is what you have to overcome.
Emm don't worry about the crying, although it's always very sad to know this happens, but this will gradually subside over time.
Best wishes.
Geoff.

You are doing really well Emm, stopping at just one is great. I unfortunately found once I had one I got the taste. But it's ok and I will just try again.
Thanks Geoff, I know I don't need to be hard on myself and if I make it a big issue I'm going to fail (bit like when others keep at you to quit smoking, the more they go on about it the less likely you are to stop).
I dont blame hubby at all - I should have clarified that I haven't really told him that I planned to stop. Funnily this is the first time in ever he has thought to get me a drink, he is usually quite thoughtless and only worries about himself when we are out. Also I have an issue with his alcohol consumption which I made a thread about. I have discussed this with him on numerous occasions and he will abstain for a few days but then falls into old habits again quite quickly. So I thought enough talk and I need to lead by example and just stop drinking myself. So far he hadn't really noticed that I wasn't drinking.
Pleased to say I didn't drink yesterday but did struggle with some huge cravings in the evening. Distracted myself with a game of cards with the kids.
Thanks guys

Thanks Geoff and can I say you have been a huge support here, it is always nice to read your words of wisdom and encouragement, so thank you!
Every day that I dont drink is a bonus and the more days in a row the better but I'm not to beat myself up if I slip up.
I did it years ago, just stopped drinking one day and didn't look back for 10 months. So I know I can do it, just got to keep reminding myself.

Hi Burdy,
totally understand the taste for it! I got that Friday but thankfully sat at a car show it was premixed and I used Geoffs drink a soft drink so having that when I donโt like it made me so gasses I was burping constantly ๐คชI didnโt want another drink until we got home to mates house but I after an hr I left so I didnโt have any more
thankfully they are a little bit supportive so didnโt push the issue.
Have a great week! Keep up the good work ๐

Hi Burdy & Geoff
hows things? I had a really bad night with no sleep again!
Iโm so over not sleeping or sleeping from 6am onwards, I think Iโm gonna have to go back to doctors....
Iโm doing my sleep routine, no phones hr before, cuppa tea with a bickie, a shower then a reading to escape reality!
Today I was a makeup model for my friend So being all dressed up and no where to go we went for lunch at 12 they had pizza and cider for $15 ( which was delicious ๐ Then at 4, I caught up with a friend that I hadnโt seen for about a year we had 2 Proseccoโs ๐ฅ and then I came home and poured a vodka & lemonade, but I can say itโs taking a very long time to drink it and I not sure if Iโll finish it just so I can have a good night sleep or if Iโll tip it out but either way. It was a good day with mates but a bad day for saying no!!!!
Good news still no Marijuana ๐๐๐ฝ๐๐ฅณ

Hi Emm78
you are doing great. Just donโt use having a drink to do it again. I had some bubbly and wine over last weekend but am not drinking now.
