Hi everyone,

We’ve heard your concerns about public profiles on the ‘How can we improve the Forums?' discussion. We can hear there’s been some concern about the public profiles feature allowing other users to view a community member’s posts and replies altogether on public profile. Thank you for letting us know about this.

We’re going to wind that feature back so that it can only only be accessed by the Forums staff and volunteers who need to able to view the extra context in order to ensure we’re supporting members as best as we can. This includes Moderators, Community Champions, Administrators and Clinicians.

We’ve checked in with some of you about this, and we can hear that it would make a lot of people feel better when using the Forums.

We really appreciate all the feedback we’ve received, and we hope this change is helpful.

Hi everyone,

You may have noticed some changes to our login pages today, the look and feel of our new Forums have made their way onto the homepage of the Beyond Blue website!

The team have been making improvements to the Forums experience and the wider Beyond Blue website, and an important part of this was making the journey between different areas a smooth one. We’ve heard from the community that it was confusing to log in, and this helped us to improve those pages and also increase accessibility.

We really appreciate all the support and communication you’ve shared with us on this journey so far, and we’re excited to keep improving this space. Some of the things we’re working on:

  • Ongoing improvements to accessibility, so that everyone can access the Forums easily
  • Improving the FAQs and other information pages
  • Issues raised on logging out of the Forums, and occasionally receiving authorisation errors

Thanks for making this community the amazing space it is and letting us know how we can make it even better.

Kind regards,

Project Team

Hi everyone,

We’re very happy to share that the notifications issue that many of you reported to us has been fixed, and notifications are now working correctly.

We understand it has been frustrating, and sometimes distressing, to be unsure if others have replied to discussions you have created, participated in, or simply followed. Thank you for your patience, and to everyone who contacted us about the issue.

What has changed?

  • The notifications that appear on your Notifications page now follow your chosen Notification Settings.

  • This means when you have unread notifications, the notification badge that appears next to the "notifications" button in the main menu will be more helpful also.

  • The notifications you receive via email will reflect your chosen Email Notifications settings.

Setting up email notifications

If you're not receiving email notifications, and you would like to, please follow these steps.

  1. Go to Notification Settings

  2. Untick "Turn off all push notifications"

  3. Untick "Turn off all email notifications"

  4. In the dropdown menu next to each email notification you would like to receive, choose "Immediately" or "In a Daily digest" or "In a Weekly digest"

  5. Select the “Save” button

Help and feedback

If you’ve configured your notification settings and you’re still not receiving the notifications you expect, please email modsupport@beyondblue.org.au so our team can assist you.

If you have ideas and suggestions on how we can improve notifications, we would love to hear them! Please share your feedback in this discussion.

Kind regards,

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since we posted in this discussion.

We've created dedicated discussions for some big updates we’ve made, including updates to the Forums login system and profile images, as well as the recent redesign of the Forums homepage.

We have another update to share today.

You might notice the discussion pages look a little different today. Most people discover the Forums via a Google search and land straight on a discussion, not the homepage. So, we’ve made updates to the discussion pages that are designed to help visitors quickly find the support they need and make it easier for everyone to explore discussions that matter to them.

Here’s what’s changed and why:

Smarter links to more discussions

You’ll now see a “More discussions” list alongside the discussion you’re reading. This list of discussions is based on the discussion on the page you’re on (and, for new visitors, what they searched for in Google) so it’s easier to find discussions with similar themes.

Explore Forums topics directly from any discussion

Links to the main Forums topics now appear below each discussion. This helps new visitors browse the Forums and understand the breadth of support and lived experiences shared here.

Why we made these changes

We know the Forums work best when people can discover relevant discussions easily and feel confident to read, share and support others. By improving connections to other discussions and navigation right where most visitors arrive, we’re aiming to:

  • Help people new to the Forums find discussions that match their needs
  • Encourage deeper engagement, connection and support across the community

Tell us what you think

This space is shaped by the community and your voice matters.

Thanks for being part of the Beyond Blue Forums 💙

Hi everyone,

We have another update to share.

You might notice your profile looks a little different. We have made changes to help you see unread replies to discussions you have started or joined and bring more of your activity together in one place.

Here's what's changed:

See unread replies at a glance

On your profile page in the Your Follows section, you will see a bright blue number next to each discussion you have started or joined. If the number is 1 or more, it means there are replies you have not read yet.

We know notifications have not been working as expected, and this change is designed to help you stay up to date with discussions you have started or joined while our technology partner continues working on a fix. You can read updates about the notifications issue here.

Your Discussions now lives on your profile

We have combined the Your Discussions page with your profile. You can still see all the discussions you have started grouped together, but they now appear on your profile. You can get there the same way as before by choosing Your Discussions from the main menu.

See all your replies in one place (new!)

For the first time, you can view all the replies you have posted in one place. This makes it easier to keep track of discussions you have been actively part of, not just the ones you started.

A note on visibility

Everything you see in these sections including discussions you have started, your replies, and your follows is not visible publicly. These details are shown to you when you are logged in and viewing your own profile.

Why we made these changes

We know the Forums work best when it's easy to follow discussions you’ve started or replied to and stay connected with others. By improving visibility of unread replies and grouping your activity in one place, we are aiming to:

  • Help you quickly see updates to discussions you’ve participated in
  • Make it simpler to reconnect and support each other across the community
