Hello all,

Paul I too hope that everyone is more prepared this year .

the place where I am living often is affected by bushfires.

I

Well it never seems to rain dramas... It pours!

First we start lockdown here in WA and day two a massive bushfire started.

I've been checking the WA emergency website constantly. I'm worried especially seeing as the firefront is very close to my husband's work. He is on the fire response team and told me yesterday they had to leave a house to burn so they could still get out.

My friend called in a panic because she has to evacuate now. I feel very sorry for the metro people like her who aren't used to preparing for fire. I find it scary and we are well prepared.
Thankfully hubby showed me again how to run the generator and start the sprinkler system before leaving. We're not at risk unless the wind changes dramatically.

A significant change is that the warnings including covid instructions. This is an added stress. There are still evacuation centres but for the elderly and others at most risk this seems like an added risk to them.

Also from home we're supposed to go to the metro area but I'm not sure we can go through the checkpoint. Plus both roads are shut down. So inland it is. Maybe the kids and I will go drive to Wave Rock or something!

Hope everyone is keeping safe both from Corona and Bushfires.

Hi Quirky,

Thinking of you all. It certainly is a concerning time. Throw in Covid-19 rules and regulations that need to be adhered to on top of a fire and you would have quite a situation to sort out!

Surely in an emergency, Covid rules need to be adjusted.

It is a good thing you had a refresher on how to use the generator and sprinkler system.

Truly hope you all keep safe!

Thanks for your posts.

each time I hear about fires anywhere I feel sorry and worry will it happen to me again.

Hey Nat

Ive been looking at the live feed on Sky News from WA re the wildfires for a few weeks...ugh!!!

Re Covid....there is always a positive.... 1 new case yet I understand the anxiety about being in lockdown whether its 5 days in WA or 6 months in VIC...It still hurts....a lot

always great to have you on the air Nat 🙂

my kindest always

Paul

just a reminder . covid rules state you are allowed to leave your home in an emergency. if anyone in WA is affected by fires or worried about them going to somewhere safe is expectedeven if it would therwise go against covid restrictions.

I am trying not to watch the fires near Perth as my heart aches and memories come back and it gets way too much.

Hi Quirky,

My heart goes out to you and to everyone suffering in any way due to fires, those fires that have happened, those that are currently burning and those in fire risk areas.

Take care everyone, cheers from Dools

Hi everyone.

I didn't know about the fires in WA until yesterday, because I try to avoid the news since it's depressing, that and the COVID case and lockdown there. I'm not sure if there's fires anywhere else in Australia currently?

Bushfires, floods, other natural disasters amongst other things are heartbreaking for anyone, even other people in another state or something. I couldn't believe the ones in 2020, sigh. So sad.

I'm thinking of everyone with COVID, Fires, and other stuff going on. My heart goes out to you all.

Stay safe everyone.

Thanks Dools and mblover,

for your caring words.. if not in Australia there is some disaster somewhere in the world.
I used to think disasters happen to others and not to me . Until it happens to you and you think why me but really why not me.

Tge people in WA whose homes have been destroyed have a long hard road ahead and I hope they get help and lots of compassion and no red tape.
