emotional impact of bushfires, information about the signs and symptoms of
emotional distress, tips for supporting children and young people, and links to

Hello all
grandy I confuse and are confused a lot.
i feel that this thread us needed so people know they are not firbotten
if you suffer nightmares or are nervous due to the fires you are nit alone.
what is one thing you want others to know about bushfires.
For me it is explains to people that I am still going to have good days and not so good days.
i know there are people a lot worse off and who suffered more but we all need acknowledgement of our loss,

Hello Everyone
Hey Quirky and Grandy...I was only trying to keep this thread 'alive' so people can find comfort knowing they are not alone. That aside I could have worded my post a lot better Quirky. Thankyou Grandy for helping others with your warm and heartfelt presence here
If anyone is experiencing difficulty after the 2020 bushfires there are many gentle people that can be here for you
my kind thoughts

The fires for me happened while already dealing with PTSD and in a way, I really tried not to let them register because it was just too freakin' much! My home was miraculously saved by the most amazing people I'll ever meet, our firies. I've tried to focus on gratitude and have been humbled. I think I need to face up that it's ok that I was so terrified in that fire-storm. Arghhhh it's all too much hey, and I am so greatly comforted to find friends here. Of course we haven't forgotten and I'm not alone. Take care everyone.

I find triggers about bushfire can take me by surprise . I can be ok
but I see something or hear something and then it can overwhelm me.
Is anyone suffering from the trauma of the bushfires.

Elizabeth
I read somewhere ages ago that normal is a setting in a washing machine.
you have been through a lot in your life and this year that any reaction that helps you cope is useful.
I think we are both aware of our reactions and we need to accept it and be kind to ourselves.
It is reassuring when someone else reacts in the same way. Ia know things are hard for but I am glad you can write about it.

Hi Quirky
Lets hope that all states are doing everything possible with back burning and preparedness prior to the upcoming warmer weather!
Im not sure what the govt department is called in NSW Quirky? In Victoria the department is the DSE (Department of Sustainability and Environment) I hope they are better prepared than they were in Jan 2020
