This bipolar life

Are your moods are like an elevator with no control buttons? Mine are.

Ground floor ... I feel normal, content, just quietly getting on with ordinary, everyday life, loving my family and friends. This is as it should be. And maybe there's nothing wrong with me after all. Live.

Going up, top floor. Oh look! There's a shiny thing! I want to sing! Let's go buy stuff! Let's have a big party and invite the world! What could possibly go wrong! Woooooo hoooooooo! Play.

Going up (a different day) top floor. What do you mean you don't agree with me! I'm right! Why don't you think like me? Keep up! How can you be so illogical? I'll f-ing shred you if you don't do what I want! Rage.

Going down, lower ground floor. Flat, listless, can't be bothered. Can still function but it's a drag. Cope

Going down, basement. I'm never getting out of bed again. I'm useless, worthless. Total idiot, how could I ever imagine I could do anything, nothing ever goes right because I'm wrong. I'm a burden to everyone. Hide.

Welcome to my bipolar world. It's always been my world, but it's only recently I've seen it for what it is. About 15 years ago I was diagnosed with clinical depression during one of my 'basement' times. I had a lot of lower ground floor times too, on and off, and I kept out of the basement (so I thought) with alcohol. Until that took me into the blackest ever basement with only one obvious way out. Having survived doing something very dangerous I realised I had to stop drinking or I really would die.

I never took much notice of the playful times or the anger, that was just me, I was fun sometimes, and sometimes I was a devastating bitch. Ha! Deal with it people!

Well, yes, but in time the elevator started going up and down too quickly and, as I became more aware and more knowledgeable about mental health I realised this wasn't good. Doctor. Diagnosis. Bipolar 2. Lithium.

So, I've started this thread in the hope that other bipolar folks will join me, to share experiences and strategies. In my 'beginners' understanding, we are different from other fellow travellers of the back dog. While we experience depression as many others on this site do, the hypomanic or manic ups and, for some the rapid cycling that can happen, are experiences unto themselves.

I want to learn more, and I want to share with others. I hope my fellow elevators will join me here.
BTW, it's a ground floor day in my head today! Yay!

Love

Family is another word for team. Some work. Some don't. The ones that work are rewarding. TEAM!!!

I had my 4 wisdom teeth out when I was 20. Was necessary for my health. My parents paid for it through the private system. The surgeon and staff were awesome....

I am currently on the hunt for specialist myself. Been comparing there charges vs services. Some are downright rude. Found one I like so time for a referal.

Specialist medical is a mine field. It really is.

Velvet mine field and gold mine. It’s like a license to print money. Yes, they train and keep up to date in their field. Their fees are so pricey.

As a person who works in a very relevant field... It's more than just continuing education.

I find anything to do with teeth very emotional for me long story.

Velvet glad you found referral.

asdff I suppose they study long and hard and are doing something very intricate.

I am sorry Q.

Ah not yet. My referral is pending until I can see my GP. Which may be delayed further now due to me having to change my work hours that day to accommodate a job. No one else can do it except me. Long story as well ! HAHA.

Well, book study aside, if they continue training with us, (*wink), as they should in order to keep their registration, and stay on top of the latest techniques etc, any half day workshop will cost each individual attending surgeon 2-4 grand. Depends on the discipline though.

Velvet,

do you feel like you have never had a break or do you feel a bit better than when you left for time off.

I feel like I don't care about this place anymore. No one here does. In some aspects that is good. In other aspects, not so good. I am tired, but having some chronic health issues does that. Maybe I am just getting old ! 😄

I have been the MH go to person today. I have fielded calls, chats, conversation from 3 colleagues. Flattering and sad because many are not coping.

I am looking forward to walking this afternoon. 😄 It is nice and sunny, and not hot.

Hiya again Everyone!

Its been a while since i posted here...

Just wanted to say HIYA!!! To all of you and especially to Quirky for re-inviting me to post *waves

I. AM. MANIC.

Just bought over $50 worth of icecreams at the servo because they all looked shiny and delicious and i wanted to try them all!!

I am aware of my mania tho so i am posting here so that i am accountable to others and myself in a public way, this helps to pull me back to a balance of sorts... i hope (and dont hope at the same time lolololol!)

ANYWAY, have a great day and see you all again soon!

I have not come to terms with the major bills that we will be paying in March and April. My natural instinct is to get a job. Husband keeps saying no job. You are here for me and the kids not in an archaic/old fashioned way.

Thanks for posting. I think the fact you aware you are of your mania and posting to be accountable is a big step.

when I was manic I was in denial and no insight or accountability, I just kept spending and creating havoc.

Did you eat the ice creams.?

Take care .
