Hi Sleepy how are you going today, I hope things are picking up for you...
Katy, I hope you are feeling better today. How is Stormy? Are you managing to keep up with your Uni reading etc etc etc? What a time you've had at the start, with Stormy and now you sick, I hope that's it for now and everything will go smoothly from now on!!!
In touch with people on the coast where I used to live, the devastation is almost unbelievable. I feel so very sad for people losing homes, businesses... lovely places destroyed... heritage buildings... it's awful.
Well keep warm and take things as easy as you can... sending hugs from Sam and me here oxoxoxo

Hi all 🙂
So awful what's happening on the east coast. Really hope everyone is safe, at the very least.
Sounds like you're in the affected zone, EM - you going ok? Did you manage to get your kitchen cleaned up alright? x
Sleepy - yes, I think BB is good for connecting to other people who've read/heard the same resources. Hope you're going ok. How's your place looking? You were in the process of decorating your space last we talked x
Hanna - things are pretty full on here, but I seem to be keeping up ok so far. Back at prac tomorrow after having last week off. Fingers crossed for smooth sailing from here on in... x
Paws - in the event you're visiting - hope you and Woofa are going ok. Have you heard of a Hakea Laurina? It is a WA plant/tree. I bought one to sneakily plant on council land over the other side of my fence where they cut a tree down and left a big gap, but I've been too chicken to plant it, so it's still in a pot. But it's budding and has the most interesting flowers. Can't wait to see them! x
PS: still can't find the potato noodles! We've had a cool change so definitely going to make a pot of soup though 🙂

Hi Sleepy, I just popped by. I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling the best. You've had a bad run for a while, time something really nice happened for you!!!
Putting furniture together is a pain, I am hopeless at it! Is there anyone who could help you with it - a nice neighbour maybe...
Raining steadily here and the local river has overflowed and covered the only bridge. It looks like the ocean instead of a river now. Quite incredible.
Katy - good to hear you are improving and back at Uni! Good luck with it, you've had a bummer of a start so hopefully all smooth sailing now!!!!
hugs to everyone here!

Hey Sleepy, omg that's so funny you just got one of Dr Eger's books! SNAP! Which one?
I think I'll have to get them both.
She was 93yo when she did the talk with Brene Brown on Brene's podcast.
Hey Katy, well done you keeping up with Uni things.
I was thinking of you on my way home from work today and why you may not find doing the zooms comfortable...
I remembered another thing Brene Brown said about "thanking fear" for trying to keep us safe...thanking any confronting emotion.
Oh yeah flooding kitchen still... but it's coming from the roof & it's gonna be nasty to repair I think. I have 4 large silicone buckets there attempting to catch the drips.
Stay at home and work from home directions. Even some schools are closed etc. The Uni closed last week and it didn't even close during Covid.
I had to go up a hill in 1st gear in my 4WD last Thursday to get to my Podiatrist.. I was thinking... maybe I should turn back.... but I kept going. Usually I can drive up that hill in 3rd gear.
There was just too much water sheeting across the road.
Alexa is flooded in.
All their neighbours lost electricity but they didn't so the ones who have it are charging phones, keeping kids warm, minding their pets lol and making thermos's full of tea.
No delivery pizza!
My downstairs flooded and is still flooding so I'll survey the damage later.
DARNED those noodles hiding from you. Grrr.
We're safe.
All good.
Hi to everyone else!
Love EM

Hello Katy, wave to everyone,
I googled the Hakea Laurina... wow really unusual flowers... it looks like it makes a nice compact small tree... if it's been a while since the council cut down the other tree then I say go for it & plant it out... it's a WA native so it should do well & it does look lovely... plus it won't get too big or drop branches... the worst that can happen is the council will pull it out. We have a growing trend here in Vic over the last 10 or so years of "guerilla gardeners" where locals get together & simply plant out vacant/waste corners of council land without asking permission first... we also have a growing trend of people planting out their verges with multi-storey natives to build wildlife corridors through suburbia... especially in the high density housing areas. I'm sure I've also seen on Gardening Australia that similar things are happening in WA as well.
I bought some plants online last night from a mail-order nursery I've used before... I was looking at the kangaroo paws they sell, but the ones I wanted were out of stock... I ended up ordering some native daises & a lovely lilac/blue rose...
So glad you are feeling better... I'm sure Stormy is too... well done lass managing the zoom meeting... good on you for finding a way for you to cope... if that's staying in bed & turning the camera off... then yay you for thinking out of the box.
Big hugs (now you're not germy) & pats for Stormy
Paws
