Hi Sarah I am still feeling pretty down.My daughter saw the specialist this afternoon. She just got put on another medication.
Thats good your vegies have grown and you will be harvesting them soon.I harvested some large sweet potatoes. The largest was 8.3kg.
The kids are on their second week of school holidays. It dosnt seem like they have been at school long and it' holidays. Its just so full on with the kids. They wear me out.
It's been freezing here the last couple of mornings with heavy frost. It did a bit of damage in the garden.
I hope you are well.
Tale care,
Your friend,
Mark.

Hi Mark
You sure do have a lot on your plate with your kids and appointments and medications. How did your daughter go with the news of some new meds? Does she take this well? I am sure that it is hard for her too to have these appointments and all these chats with her medical conditions too. You are such a good dad Mark and I know this is not easy for you but you have my utmost respect in all that you do for your kids, you are a really great dad.
It is really cold here too and I think about if I should make a little plastic tent type thing for my veggies as they are going really well and I just dont want to lose them! I have a new picture that I took this morning so will try to upload so you can see the progress..I really can't believe it!
That potato of yours is huge...wow....8.3 kilos...will you make soup with it?
Off to get a coffee and to actually do some work today...lol
Hope today is a better one for you Mark, hugs to you my friend.

Hi Sarah I am really sorry about all the restrictions happening again in Melbourne for you.Its going to be a long road to we will get back to normal.I know it can potentially happen here again in qld and am preparing for it.
My vegies had heavy frost on them with the cold snap we had and it didn't effect them at all.I will harvesting the last of my cauliflower and will be harvest cabbages soon.
My daughter is ok with trying a new medication. Will see of this one works or not.She still has her other ones but has this one in the evening.
I been making sweet potato chips. They are yummy. And I made mashed sweet potato as well.
I hope your managing ok in these difficult times.Thinking of you.
Take care,
Your friend,
Mark.

Hi Mark
Yes we are back to stage three as of tonight, what can we do but do as we are told, stay home and hopefully get this under control hey! We have done it before and we can do it again, after all it is our health and well being that we have to lose if we don't do the right thing now.
That is great that you are getting some more cauli's..I have a question and this may be really silly, but what happens when my cauli grows and I cut it off? Does the plant die and I have to re plant or does it keep growing? I have no idea about these things but lucky for me I know a very smart person who does.....
The sun is out today for a change so that will make for a nice day, I hope to get out there at some point and soak some of it up....I an not sure we are going to see if for the rest of the week.
I am catching up with some friends tonight for coffee before we head back into lock down so that will be nice to quickly see them.
My kids are not happy at all about the prospect of having to do online schooling again but hey..what can we do?
I am so happy to hear that your daughter is ok with the meds and the playing around and changing and that she seems pretty go with the flow with it all which is good.
Sweet potato chips are the best and they are even better with some aioli and some dipping sauce..yum!
Enjoy the day my friend and hope you are doing something fun.
Hugs
Sarah

Thank you so much Mark, I know exactly what to do and I love eggplant so I might do the same!
What is your favorite thing to make with eggplant?
Can you see my new pic and how much they have grown, I know it sounds so silly but I am really excited and so very proud of myself...lol
I am going to do some research now and see what else I can plant in spring..this could be the whole start of me having my very own veggies all year around...look at me go...lol
Have a great night too Mark, I think it will be a quick coffee for me with my friends and then home to the warmth of my bed..lol...party animal.

Hi Sarah yes egg plants are great.I like to deep fry them or put them in my spagetti bolagnese or stir fries. Also make slice them and put cheese on them and bake in oven.
yrd your plants have grown a lot.Thats great you are excited about your vegies.I might clean up some of my vegie garden today that' finished.Their is plenty of choices in spring for planting.I aĺlways put in a big bed of corn as the kids love eating it.
Not as cold the last couple of mornings here and no frost.I thought I heard light rain last night though it could have been my imagination.I will liquid fertilizer my new flower garden today. The first lot of seedlings I put in have really shot up.It should look good in spring.

Your friend,
Mark.

Hi Mark
Hope today is going well for you and that you may even have something great planned to do over the weekend.
I have been getting a few things ready to go back into Iso with the kids to try to keep them busy, we have a really cool looking owl puzzle that they will probably think is dumb but it is 500 pieces so should keep us busy. I am also going to get the paints back out and see what I can create for Iso part 2!
I really wanted to go to Bunnings and have a look at seedlings but I guess that can wait until we are back to some state of normality.
How are your kids going? I am waiting to hear if we have to go back to doing home schooling after the extended school holidays. My son is dreading that but my daughter seems to be ok, I think she didn't mind being at home and is fairly self motivated where my son needs a hot poker to even get out of bed...lol
Looking forward to watching the footy tonight, I was super happy with my cats last night and especially beating the Lions!
Have a great afternoon and chat soon my friend

Hi Sarah I know it will be a bit hard for you being in ISO especially for your kids. I don't know how mine would cope again. I know I am prepared and have enough supplies just in case. I am still continuing to get my groceries delivered. Jigsaws are fun to do and I use to do a lot of 1000 piece ones once.
Today a couple of fruit trees I ordered came and I planted one in the front garden and the other one in a pot for the moment.
It will be interesting to see what they do with the schooling after your extended school holidays are over. My kids go back Monday and will be good to have break. I just feel so tired and warn out from these holidays.
I missed the footy last night as I was to tired and was asleep by 8pm.Thats good the cats beat the lions. They have looked good this season the lions. I use to go to all their home games when I lived in Brisbane. The highlight for me was a game against the sun's and getting to throw the footy back in after it came over the fence and fell at my feet.Gary was playing in that game and was great to watch him live and only be metres from me. I allways sat right on the fence.
Take care,
Your friend,
Mark.

Hi Mark
OMgoodness...those sweet potatoes are huge....they would make some awesome wedges!
Well we got the news that mostly all Victorian parents were dreading and that after next week our kids will return to remote learning..SIGH....I know my kids are not happy about it, I am not overly impressed either but what can we do really?? We just have to brave the storm and get on with it. We have done it before and while it was a challenge, we got there. I am just trying to think of some things that I can use to keep them motivated...yes..bribes!!
Your bombers had a great win last night and it was a really good game. That is so exciting that you got to throw the ball back in, how special! Gary Ablett is sure one of the games champs and I feel so lucky that we also have some other champs in our team too, like Dangerfield and Selwood and Hawkins, but we also have some really promising young guys coming up too like Myers. I really love footy and will watch any game really, waiting today for 3pm for the next game..lol
I was speaking to my granny last night and telling her about my veggies and she suggested that when they have grown their fruit and you have harvested it, to dig the plant back into the soil and to use it nutrients for the soil and it will just rot down. What do you think about that?
I have just put some french onion soup mix, some chilli flakes and some pepper over some mince and have mixed it all in together and am letting it all soak in and tonight I am going to make burgers for the kids. I will put some avocado and grilled pineapple in them with some egg, bacon and cheese...looking forward to that!
How has your weekend been? The weather here is really cold and as we are in lockdown I am getting all the craft stuff back out to see what creations I am going to come up for Iso part 2.
Chat soon
Sarah
