Hello

I am wanting to know if anyone else feels just worthless. And what they did about that feeling that creeps inside of you.

Thanks

Hello Yggy

Just found your reply. I had some fantastic support from the day I was told I had breast cancer. A group of people made themselves responsible for taking me to every doctor/hospital visit, including admission and discharge, and every radiation treatment. I was overwhelmed by their care.

Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) have a web page and forum similar to BB. I did not use this much as I had my support locally. My surgeon and doctors were fantastic. It's such a let down that I had the bad side effects and interactions. It really has been the pits, especially when I was doing so well with the depression. I really thought I had beaten it so a double disappointment.

Now it's back to one day at a time and keeping myself safe.

I see you are still struggling with flying. But you have developed coping mechanisms for yourself which is great. It's nice to be given a few tips on how to manage but working out how to manage by yourself is a great morale booster.

Hello everyone,

Not long back  from my first day (half day actually) at the new job.  All went well and its going to be good for me. But I felt totally worn out when I got back so had a quick bite to eat and went and lay down for a while.  Its nice and cool here today, and light rain falling.  So it was nice just resting and listening to the rain.

Now I am just reading all your lovely messages of support for me.  It sounds like you are all having somewhat of a bad day yourselves and yet as I read through the posts all I can see is your concern for others.  What is it about the people on this thread that makes them feel worthless?  I think you should change the thread name to something much more appropriate Shelley Anne.

I am so sorry that a number of you seem to be struggling more today.  Where as while you were all concerned for me, I have actually had a pretty good day.  I feel as though I have some purpose back in my life again.  And you good people have helped big time in that regard.  Not sure I could have gotten myself in the right frame of mind to firstly make it to the interview and then to start the job, if it were not for your encouragement and help. So I thank all of you good people.

Wayne - where are you my friend?  I miss seeing Shaun the Sheep, and hearing stories of Lucy.  I hope that lick Holly passed on to Lucy, through you, hasnt given you hair balls?  Anyway, I hope you're okay.  I know its been very hot where you are and that container would get stiffling.  But its cooler now, so hopefully you'll check back in with us here.  I do hope you arent feeling put off by all the ladies on this thread?  We wont bite!  Come back.

You all give great hugs, so I'd like to join in too.  So one humungus group hug with all of you included.

((((((  ))))))  I dont think I've left anyone out.  And hopefully I havent left any one-armed hugs in there.

If any of you are like me, when I get sympathy or a big warm hug, I usually burst into tears and just sob.  So if you're all the same, it would be a big river of tears afterwards.

Love to you all,

Sherie xx

Hello Mary, I just read your reply to yggy, and I hope it is OK, but I want to say I'm sorry you are struggling with breast cancer. And it would be disappointing to go through all that radiation treatment and then having to face the side effects. Were you much sick during the treatments? You poor thing. What will you do now? Do you just wait for more treatments?

Hope you are OK

Shelley xx

I am so glad it went really good for you today at your new job. So do you have your own desk? That is probably a dumb question, so disregard it if you want.

Hooray Hooray for you Sherie!

Hi Shelley,

Thankyou.  Yes, I do have my own desk and office.  Not a dumb question at all!  I've been handed the office keys today with the handover, along with access to the company bank account etc.  So I'm set now!   ( :

Hoping you're having a better afternoon than what your morning was.  Maybe that group hug will help?

Hey Sherie, I so much want to hear about the details of your first day at work, like were you anxious, and that sort of thing. I even want to know exactly what you did in detail, Even want to know what you had for lunch and stuff. I just don't know exactly what to ask you, if that makes any sense??? So can you just ramble on, so I can read how your day truly went for you?

I know this first day was a big hurdle for you.

Hug

Hello Sherie,

Nice to read that your new job suits you and you feel better about it all, we had a bit of relief from the heat yesterday I needed a cooler day or so as I have been getting a bit to hot and apart from that I crashed and burt a little over the last few days and felt like crap.

Like many others who live by themselves this time of year has it's moments, my mind is not playing the game today. Just want to say good on you with the new job and thanks for asking of me. Poor Lucy has been doing it tough with all the hot days but we did get to play a little yesterday as it was cooler.

Wayne.

Hi Shelly,

Thanks for asking about me and Lucy, things have not be hunky dory over the last few days but I am trying to work hard to snap myself out of the negative and put myself in a positive space dam hard sometimes!!!

Little Lucy says hi and hopes your well.

Words are eluding me today just wanted to say thanks and will talk later.

Wayne

Hi there Wayne, thanks for getting on here and letting us know how you are.  Of course I am very sad that you have crashed and burned a bit over the last few days.  As you say this time of the year is tough for anyone who is on their own.  It is promoted as such a family time.  But you have your brother.  I dont recall hearing if he has a family or not?  What will you do for Christmas Day?  Hopefully not on your own.  If you could come up here to the Mid North Coast, I'd invite you to Christmas lunch with us.  My husband and I are spending Xmas at home this year.  But he has a good friend who he has known forever, and we will share Xmas lunch with he and his wife.  They only live across the road from us, so nice and convenient.  And they have a swimming pool!  Their grown up children live in the USA, so they would be on their own if not for us.  And of course our grown up children are a long way away as well, one 6 hours north and other 6 hours south.  We will catch up with them in January, along with my Mum and Dad, sister and brother and young family.  May have to rearrange our travel plans now that I am working again.  But work is pretty flexible so I should be able to work it out.

I hope the cooler weather remains for you.  When do you hope to move out of the container?  Silly question that actually, I should have said, when do you EXPECT to move out of the container into your new house?  I'm sure you'd HOPE to move out today if that were possible.

Hope your days improve and that you can enjoy Christmas.  I will be thinking of you.

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for asking about my day.  I will try to give you a bit of a summation of what took place.

Yes, I was pretty anxious all morning and did my breathing exercises all the way into work.  I got there before the other 2 people - one the boss, and the other who was doing the handover.  I was a bit early, so had to wait for 5 minutes for them to arrive.  That was probably the hardest part, as I started to feel faint from my breathing gone wrong.

Anyway they were both really friendly and helpful. The boss said he had spoken to both the referees I had provided him with, and said that they had spoken glowingly of me.  So that was nice.  He left me with a stack of paperwork to go through and file, which is beneficial in helping me to familiarise myself with whats there and where everything is.

The other lady was also really nice and kept reasssuring me that I could call her any time if I had any problems or questions.  And that she could be there within 15 mins if I ever needed her to be.  The boss then asked when I'd like to be paid (ie in advance or in arrears) and I said I didnt want to be paid in advance, that I was happy to be paid monthly in arrears.  I HATE owing anybody anything, so prefer to be paid after the work is done.

So I have been through all the duties with the other lady and am happy that I know enough about it all now.  I know where everything I'm likely to need is.  And I have keys to get in whenever I wish to go in and explore or do anything.

They have given me the bank access so I can do monthly reconciliations etc.  They must be very trusting to do that, they've only just met me.  But my referees would have reassured them of my honesty in that regard.  We spoke about preferred days and hours for me to work.  We have agreed to commence with Tuesday mornings for now while things are pretty quiet.  Next year there will be extra days and hours needed.

Another older gentleman called in to meet me later in the morning.  I nice old fellow who is one of the senior committee members.  Charming old fellow and also very welcoming.  But gee, can he talk!  Phew....

So everyone made me feel very welcome and needed.  I'm sure I will be happy there, and will be able to make the position my own.

I've probably rambled on enough, so I hope that gives you a bit of an idea of how my day went.
