Recently me and my bestfriend decided not to be friends anymore and I got hit with a wave of depression. I feel useless. Like nobody wants me, likes me. My new friends seem to hate me some days and they aren't as fun as my old friends were. I find myself stalking my ex-bestfriends social media. I really just want to be friends again but everything is so different. She hates me and has new friends. I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else and what sort of problem I'm having? Is it just depression or grief or what is it?

It can make us feel very sad when we feel like we don't belong or losing friends. We are all different and it's hard to find someone that understands us and appreciates our company. It can take quite a while to find friends that we feel like we belong. But it does happen. I'd keep looking for friends that you appreciate and they appreciate you back. It can feel exhausting but it's worth trying.

You ask if you have depression or grief.
Grief is a response we feel when we lose something or someone valuable to us.
Grief happens to almost all humans on earth and is a natural response we all go through in life.
But it doesnt last.
Grief can teach us so much about life that does last.
It teaches us how to value things and people in the future. We become better friends in the future because we know what loss is now.
I threw away a chop stick by accident once. I grieved for ages because it had value to me that I alone only knew.
I once asked my ex girlfriend to come back. She didnt. But 30 years later I am still glad I did ask because I didnt have to live all my life wondering what could have been if I didnt ask.
So there is no reason why you cant send a msg or in person saying how are you doing I missed your company.
There is no shame in doing that.
But if you do and the response is not what you hoped for then make sure first that a friend or trusted older person is with you to help you cope with anything negative.
