I’m not okay

I’m not okay, I don’t know what to do, I feel like everyone hates me and I don’t know how to tell my parents, I’m only young so I don’t know why I feel this way and I’m an overthinker with vulnerable parents because my mother has asthma and smokes so it’s hard and my father has diabetes and eye problems, I’m scared and don’t know how to handle this. I also get bullied for autism.

Hi Guest_36180740,

We can imagine the incredible amount of courage you would have had, to say that you are not okay. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your experience.

It can be challenging to feel that everyone hates you. Overthinking can make us feel that way at times, even though it may not be the case. It sounds like you maybe feeling really alone at the moment, and it's not always easy to share how we feel.

We can hear how scary it has been for you to navigate these challenges, and are sorry to hear that you are being bullied. Bullying in any shape or form is never okay, you deserve to feel safe.

Given you have been so brave in reaching out, we hope you may take some time to think about telling a friend, a trusted person (a Teacher, school counsellor, even mum and dad) when you are ready.

Kids Helpline have online chat for on-going support About WebChat Counselling | Kids Helpline to share how you are feeling.

We are here for you, as well as our wonderful online community. Some of whom may be able to relate to what you’re going through. Thank you again for your courage and strength in sharing your thoughts here.

Warm Regards,

Sophie M

Dear New Member~

I'd like to join Sophie_M in welcoming you here to the Forum.  I'm glad you came as you sounded al alone with no clear path ahead.

Sophie gave good advice in suggesting the Kids Help Line, which is a pretty good place to go, they have people who can assist, by phone or web-chat, and even a place you can talk with others who have similar problems. Talking to anybody can be frightening, embarrassing or you might feel you are out of place. There is no need to worry, they are freindly with tons of experience talking to younger people.

Overthinking is common, it is something I do myself. In my case however I'm not alone, I've somone I respect who tells me if my mind is racing along to fast and only seeing the bad outcomes. It is a huge comfort to me as life seems so miserable and hopeless unless this is held in check.

I know your parents have their problems, mum wiht her asthma and smoking and your dad with diabetes and eye problems.

In some ways that limits their world and they are not always able to do the things they did before, and this can leave a person feeling frustrated and useless.  If you thought it might be a good idea and you were to tell them your troubles I'm sure not only would they be on your side and help, they would feel better in themselves too.

You sound a very loving and considerate person thinking of your parent's welfare before your own and no sensible person would ever hate someone like that, in fact they are more likley to admire your selflessness. They would also appreciate your strenght in coping wiht autism.

Please do not be put off by ignorant bullies, they are deeply at fault and if anything you should feel sorry for them. The Kid's Help Line may have some suggestions how to handle them.

I really would like it if you come back and said how you are getting on

BTW I noticed you had a guitar as a pic, do you enjoy music?

Hi, welcome

A few coincidences there- I was told this years I'm high functioning autistic, my brother (dec) had diabetes type 1 and I'm an over thinker.

Over thinking is mostly worry. Relaxation is needed as per the type you learn in relaxation classes. The following thread covers that. I hope you get something out of it.
