Emotional Breakdowns

Hey guys, it’s Liam…so last Monday, I don’t know what happened but I was just feeling severely down…this caused me to suffer from a severe emotional breakdown, something which I’m all too familiar with considering the breakdowns I’ve had in the past…If you’re wondering how these breakdowns occur, they occur when I get overwhelmed emotionally, and then I just…start crying…my question is…what exactly can I call these things I have instead of emotional breakdowns? Also I have suffered severely because of these breakdowns…especially at school, one of the SSOs, he believed I was faking them to get out of doing work, but I was only having these breakdowns because the workload was too hard for me…that was when I was 17…I’m now 20…I feel like I can’t be emotional or cry… *Crying* 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Hi Liam!
I’m glad to read that you had a good birthday! Also wishing you a belated happy birthday!

I think sometimes after a few good days and excitement, sometimes some down days are normal! I actually tend to get that way myself! However, if the sad days out weigh the good, maybe it may be time to do a “life audit” I’m recently slowly doing one myself. I’m reconnecting with the things I am interested in and either already and still make me happy or things that used to make me happy and going out and doing them! I’ve been finding this has been really relaxing and wonderfully mood uplifting!

Woshjng you the best 🫶

Thx mate.

I feel terrible right now…I feel severely emotional and I’m currently suffering from a severe emotional breakdown…and I desperately need some comfort right now guys… *Crying* 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Hello Liam,

I'm really sorry you are feeling so awful, it is a horrible place to be when you don't have the support you need. It has taken me a long time to have the confidence and self-worth to understand that it's exactly the right step to ask for comfort when we're emotionally suffering. Well done for reaching out, many people on the forums know what it feels like to be 'lost at sea' emotionally.

Would you think about calling a helpline - a warm, supportive conversation can be really helpful when we're struggling in the moment.

Do you want to share more about what's happening for you right now? Perhaps you have some go-to activities or strategies that could support you at this time? I have a pretty assorted toolbox of self-care strategies to help me when I'm feeling overwhelmed. Having someone to talk to - in person or by phone - to listen without judgement is usually important. I then work on soothing myself as best I can and working out what my immediate priorities are and how to meet them. Sometimes letting these sad, low feelings out is critical for me, even though I find it hard to allow often. After the tears I can gain a bit of perspective on how to move forward, but the acknowledgement part is important first.

Please let us know how you're managing. Taking care of ourselves is our first job in life.

Warm thoughts to you.

Well, I mean, I have plenty of support in my family and my psychiatrist...but there are times when I feel like it's not enough...

I understand - and it's good to have different sources of support and comfort. Have you looked into any groups/programs/activities that your local community service offers? Some services offer peer-led or informal support groups or mentoring that could be a safe, accessible way to have more support.

You could also explore the challenges and sadness you feel further through the forums here. I have found a number of kind and like-minded souls who have provided wonderful support at different times.

It's okay to go through times when the 'support as usual' doesn't do the trick - and sometimes a different person/avenue can connect with you in ways that add to your existing support system.

You've started your search in the right place.

I’m always very open emotionally here in the forums, that’s for sure

Hey guys. It’s me, Liam. So I spoke to my psychiatrist about how things are going and I was actually feeling good. But then last night, I had a horrific dream…remember when I mentioned about an incident that I had with an SSO that I called a source of comfort and then I tried to fix it by apologising to her on Instagram and she reported me? Well I was dreaming about that incident except I never called her a source of comfort. What instead happened was that I revealed to her about losing my dear friend. Now I’m just going to point this out, I never told her anything about my dear friend. So yeah guys, not really feeling too good right now…can you guys please comfort me… *Crying* 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
