What small thing brought you a little joy this week?

Hi everyone,

Life can be hard sometimes, so I thought I might try something different here.

And I figured it might be nice to share a little light. Has something (big or small, it does not matter!) that brought you a moment of joy this week?

It could be as simple as a smile from a stranger? Good cup of coffee? a walk? Or something funny your pet did.

I’ll start: After a day when I thought I did not accomplish much, my higher up sent me a text message in the evening, thanking for the help I had given during the day. And this put a smile on my face.

Looking forward to hearing the little things that made your day a bit brighter

Thankyou! She was really glad. she had some important news to share with me. Which made her day that little bit easier once she shared it. She’s a mum with three kids. I was also very lucky to have experienced 2 Southern right whales sightings Afew hundred metres out side. Just out the front of where I live.

Hi,

Whales are great, my wife and I love them. In 2016 we toured Australia and at Monkey Mia my wife went to the dolphin place. She was 3 of 40 people that could feed the dolphins and she was so happy. I had to stay at the caravan for the dogs.

For years now I've been wanting to get my poems published or my book I've written. In the last few months I decided to include my poetry in a few Facebook sites. The local town has one so I've studied history to include it in poems. The other is a Vietnam Veterans site. See, the soldiers returned from that was with many Aussies treating them terribly. They had eggs thrown at them and some were chased by young men as if it was their fault they went to war. I was 2-3 years too young to get enlisted. Anyway expressing to them through poetry has been met with appreciation. To "relate" to their experiences or show them that people do care has been rewarding.

So those sites are added to my work writing poetry to victims of crime. I have to be careful not to get too emotionally involved though.

Hi Tony,

I hope that you have good luck in getting it published. There is also self-publishing. I know a couple of people that went down that path - they did not do it to make money but ...

And from what you said it show that you care about what happened and sharing your thoughts (?) in that

Hi Halecia, Tony and smallwolf,

That's great Halecia that you got up the courage to speak with your sister and that she was able to share her important news. It's wonderful you saw the Souther Right Whales too. I have seen some Humpbacks this season here from my town and it is now the Southern Rights here as well, though I haven't seen those ones yet myself this year. Others have told me they're out there.

Tony, telling those stories through poetry such as the experience of Vietnam veterans is so meaningful. I think of the Bruce Springsteen song Brother's Under the Bridge. It's about a group of Vietnam vets who have run away from society to live together because they get one another but feel they can only live remotely now. Two years ago when I went on a road trip which was like my own temporary escape from society, I found a veterans camp in a remote spot and I got why they are out there.

My little joy today was going to the hairdresser. I was not feeling well at all due to mental health stuff. She is a really nice person and was so bright and friendly and reassuring to chat with. I could feel myself lift as soon as I was there. She even made me a cup of tea and gave me a chocolate 🍫

Hugs to everyone 🤗

Hey everyone,

@Tony - you probably already know this, but the song "Born in the USA" is also about a return(ed) soldier.

@ER - like the story about the hairdresser.

Me... my channel on youtube got monetized today 🙂 Really did not not expect that!

Smallwolf, that is awesome!!! Well done! It means you're doing something good. I'm really happy for you 😀

Congratulations, smallwolf, on your youtube success!

My share is not nearly as exciting, but I managed to do all of my physiotherapy exercises today despite pain and lethargy.

Keep well everyone

Thanks ER and Summer Rose.

And I think that doing (read completing) physiotherapy would also feel good. And perhaps a small reward afterwards?

How do you know, smallwolf? Hahaha

Cup of tea and a blueberry muffin.

Kind thoughts to you

@Summer Rose ... It was something my psych said to me or told me to do I should say. That when you accomplish it is OK to reward yourself.
