Moon, like you I am so pleased that December 25th has past....All the stores and their big up for one day...I am pleased to hear that you don’t feel pressured in having to enjoy your days now...It is a big relief when that day passes isn’t it?..

The F&M hamper sound so yummy...I enjoy my cuppa teas so much..late husband refused any tea in the house..I’m sure making up for those lost “tea years”...and I do have a very fancy Bone China cup & saucer I bought for myself, on my last birthday....I use them when I need some self care..

Take care of yourselves...a cup of lemon and honey tea is smoothing and beneficial for our health....

Hi Grandy, A special tea cup is a wonderful idea, I have one too - it's a little treat we give ourselves... to enjoy a nice cuppa out of a lovely china cup. I'm glad things here will start reopening soon too, it's been so quiet here and all the neighbours are away on holidays so no people even in my street!

Its good to hear that you also have a beautiful bone China tea cup....Not sure why..but the tea taste so much better in a beautiful cup and saucer...

Mine has gorgeous red roses with greenery and it has gold edging all around the rim and handle..as well as outlining the red roses...

I'll let Quirky answer that, sufficient to say most of the the other quotes came from a Midsummer Night's Dream, but that one didn't.

May I ask what was it that interested you about it?

Thanks for that! I thought the quote was rather lovely and it certainly sounded like Shakespeare. I'm a mad reading/cinema/poetry/music buff, and excuse me dropping by your thread - you just seemed to be having some interesting discussions and some nice literary quotes were noticed by me. I love beautiful English I guess. I'm someone who likes to read poetry books... my mother was a big reader and a love of literature got passed on to us kids I guess. I enjoy meandering discussions... the sort of thing Robert Dessaix writes, if anyone here reads his books...

As Quirky has not come back it was Othello feeling that Desdemona was behaving in a too familiar manner for a lady, the moon being a symbol of purity, and coming too close to the earth a way of saying all was not in order.

An unlucky interpretation for both of them.

Moon and I have been swapping quotes for a while, mainly Oscar Wilde but others creep in

My own means of drawing boundaries and getting into another world is though book and movies (I have a fair collection) Streaming does not really st me as I like to re-visit several years down the track.

I'm not familiar wiht Robert Dessaix, thogh I've looked at his bio. What would you suggest as an intro for me? Something short, simple and without tragedy would be good.

Sad to say when i became ill and eventually returned to reading I could no longer tolerate cruel endings. such as Kanal (1956 Polish film directed by Andrzej Wajda) and prefer Micmacs, a 2009 French comedy film by French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet who directed Amélie

Hi Croix,

Robert Dessaix lives with his partner in Tasmania and he writes what are almost discussions about all sorts of topics combined with travel.. he used to teach Russian in the USSR, he's quite a Renaissance man and has wonderful discussions about a wide range of topics. His book A Mother's Disgrace was about his search for his birth mother, another quite different but good one is Arabesques, which again is a travelogue with exerpts from discussions he has with various people overseas... he draw the reader into these. Not sure if you read non-fiction? I love reading Dessaix as it's like having a wonderful meandering discussion with him...

I don't get to see as many foreign movies as I would like as I live in regional Australia - I do like Antonia's Line which is Dutch, and Dancing at Dancing at Lughnasa (Irish), Bread and Tulips and Shoplifters, which is Japanese.

I hope you're having a good New Year's Day... very wet and cold here. I do like the Shakespeare quotations! Cheers.
