Sudden and Random Anxiety

I’ve always been incredibly happy and calm and have just taken things as they come, but a couple of months ago anxiety hit me hard and out of the blue. I have absolutely no reason to feel anxious and I wasn’t aware that anxiety could affect someone so suddenly and seemingly randomly, and since I have no idea what has caused it I don’t know what to do in order to try and relieve it. My symptoms have been very physical and I often feel nauseous, exhausted and out of breath to the point where I struggle to leave the house and live my life normally as I did previously. Constant headaches have also been impacting me since it’s onset.
I’ve become so caught up with this whole situation that I make myself feel constantly worried that I will start feeling ill or have a panic attack during the day or during activities, which leaves me feeling sick and even more anxious. Due to me feeling so anxious all the time, I have started avoiding all opportunities where I could feel anxious or sick in public. I’m just so worried that this feeling won’t go away and I don’t know what to do.
Has anyone else experienced a completely sudden and random onset of anxiety? If so, did it go away/ did your life go back to normal? Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello Parisivashkov
Welcome to the forums and thankyou for having the courage to post too!
I feel your pain as I have had the same fearful anxiety for a long time (now in recovery) My Psychologist used to call it 'free floating anxiety'......as it seemed to come out of nowhere.
I used to have chronic anxiety for a long time starting in 1983...this is just what I have learned..I hope it helps..
- The severity of the anxiety does decrease over time with super frequent counseling
- Recovery is there for you...It does take determination, patience and a strong desire to heal
- Tight breathing is very common as our chest muscles restrict when anxious
- The early stages are painful and confusing.....these symptoms will pass....and they do Parisivashkov
- The earlier anxiety is treated the better our recovery will be
- Looking for 'reasons' for the anxiety isnt productive...this can be counter productive at this time
To answer your question Parisivashkov .....yes my symptoms hit me hard on a Friday in 1983.....they were awful. I understand where you are coming from. Treating the symptoms as early as you can will bring some peace of mind....(I didnt know this in 1983 unfortunately)
The longer we leave anxiety untreated, sometimes it can exacerbate. Do you have a GP that you can talk to? Their training is more comprehensive where anxiety is concerned compared to the 1980's when I was in your situation.
I really hope you can make a double appointment with your GP as soon as you can. Avoidance is common with anxiety. I used to avoid freeways....traffic jams.....the list goes on...
Your privacy and well being is paramount to us Parisivashkov. The forums are a rock solid safe and non judgemental place for you to post any questions or comments 🙂

Thank you so much for your reply, it’s much appreciated!!
It’s so reassuring to hear that others have also experienced this and have found a way to cope with it. Thank you for your advice, I have a really lovely GP so I think I’ll have a chat with her.
Thanks again, Paris
