Stressed for first day as Medical receptionist

Hi all,
I am happy to find this safe place to share me anxiety.
I worked as a medical receptionist for 2 months and as it was too overwhelming I quit due to anxiety and sleep issues.
I was quite traumatising.
I took a break of 3 months and applied for a less busy but modern clinic.
I am literally panicking for my first day.
Though I have a previous experience , I don't feel confident and have a constant fear of messing up things.
Please help with advices to stay calm.
Thank you 😊

Dear Aks~
Welcome here to the Forum, anxiety about a new job is very natural, particularly as the last one did not work out well. I think you are very wise to choose a less busy clinic with less pressure as a result.
Most well run clinics will not expect a newcomer to know everything and normally there is someone around to give advice or help. After all it is in their interests to have a knowledgeable receptionist who is familiar with their software and procedures.
Even so before you start and for the first little while you may well be very anxious. I have an anxiety state and have found that to get me out of that loop of worrying what might go wrong I use a free smartphone app called Smiling Mind.
This has umpteen exercises for all ages and all types of people. It basically lets you concentrate on one thing, from your body to a leaf - a big range. It does take practice and you do have to find exercises that suit you. I started with a young person's anxiety exercise and went on from there.
It works surprising well , breaks that loop and leaves you calm. I use that calm to do something I enjoy that distracts me from life. In my case a chapter in a favorite book, though it could be anything - you would know what suits you best.
Please do not expect perfection from yourself when you start, everyone takes come time to get used to things.
Wishing you luck -if you felt like letting up know how you get on htat would be great

Dear Aks~
I was wondering if the new position was one you were able to keep on with, it can be very difficult and sometimes I found the conventional thinking - keep a job until you get another - is not always right for me.
Whatever the case I'm hoping the anxiety is less than when you last posted, it's an illness both of us have to try and cope with.
