Scared to go to school?

Hey my name is Zoe and I'm really terrified to go to school when I know for certain a minor inconvenience will be in the way.

For example if it's raining I'll begin to think "Oh god, I'll have to ask where my wet weather class room is and then I'll have to sit inside the hall, what if I can't find my friends?" Etc.

It's getting to the point where I'll cry for an hour and I'll have to turn my alarm off so I don't wake up in the morning.

Mum thinks I'm just another moody teenager who just doesn't want to go to school because it's lame or something.

But she doesn't realize that the thought of surrounding myself with people I don't know makes me panic and cry.

I honestly don't know what to do. Should I ask my mum to see a doctor?

And what should I do if I'm too terrified to go to school again?

Hi Zoe and welcome to the forums. I'm really sorry to hear what's going on. Yes, I think it'd be a really great idea to open up to your Mum about what's going on. Seeing a psychologist and talking through your anxieties may also really help. CBT which is a strategy you learn in therapy may really help you with how you're feeling. For instance you ask yourself questions like "Do I absolutely know this is true?" "Is there a possibility that my thoughts are false?" Often when dealing with anxiety it often lies to you and makes things more of a problem than they are. For instance with the wet weather example, I'm sure that if you asked where the wet weather class room was there'd be many helpful people who would be able to help you, and it's highly likely you'd be able to find your friends. If you didn't find your friends I'm sure the period would be over soon anyway. It's thoughts like this that a really great psychologist can help you with.
