Hello 🙂
Recently in school, there are so many assignments, tests due and I feel hopeless in successfully getting a good grade. I keep on trying to do work but I am not motivated as I keep thinking 'what is the point of trying when you know you are going to fail?' but I want to be determined to succeed. I feel isolated in this as I know so many people who are coping with all these assignments just fine passing with great grades yet I couldn't. Is there anything I could do to help myself with becoming more motivated to pass?

Dear Aroha4ever~
There are times when assignments and other work does pile up and to try to get though it all is a huge worry.
I'm a bit surprised that you would say you know you are going to fail. Is that what has happened in the past, or is it just that you are feeling overwhelmed at the moment? Although they might not say so an awful lot of people get discouraged with what is in front of them.
Whenever I'm in that situation I always try to do the easy stuff first. This has a couple of advantages, first it is normally quick and so reduces the pile that is outstanding. The second is it gives engagement. I find if I've sailed though some questions it puts me in a more confident frame of mind and has already started the brain working. This carries over to the next task - it really works.
If you find the workload really is impossible go have a talk to whoever set it and see if it is possible to get an extension on some. Most educators want their students to pass, and will try to be reasonable.
Talking of educators, if you find there are things you do not understand then seeing them and asking for them to explain is worth doing, again it is in everyone's interests for a students that try to pass. A study group can also be a big help if you are lucky enough to find the right people.
I also find taking regular breaks so the mind remains fresh is useful ,as is getting up and doing a little exercise (maybe a walk) if one starts to get overwhelmed with the mind gong round in circles.
I've made a few suggestions, would you like to come back and say what you think?

Hi Aro,
Croix has made some useful suggestions so I won't repeat them.
I feel many students would feel like you. I remember in high school I was so far behind and I had 4 assignments use in 2 weeks. I had a really supportive teacher who said one assignment at a time one page at a time.
Take care
